    C and D Canal

Has anyone ventured from Annapolis/Middle River through the C and D Canal? I'm just wondering how pwcs can handle being near the big ships and any good marinas to stop at to fuel up.

I've gone up to the restaurant on the south side of the canal in Chesapeake City, going from Baltimore. Easy ride at 18 knots in the waves south of Hart-Miller Island. You can pick up speed as you go further north and the water smooths out. Respect the big ships and keep some distance from them. The canal itself was easy, I did not notice the 35 kph speed limit signs at first. It's a long haul from Annapolis, I head to Galesville or Kent Narrows when I launch from Truxton Park.

I only have one trail in Maryland (Delaware Punch) and the SW leg of the ride is the C&D canal. Check out any POIs for food and fuel; hope this helps: http://pwctrailfinder.com/MarylandPWCTrailRides.html

We launched out of Wilson Point and finally went to the C and D Canal. It took about 2 hours since we stopped a few times. We saw multiple ships along the journey.

We gassed up at the entrance of the C and D Canal at Schaefer's. They had a low dock for jet skis and also 93 octane for us turbo guys.

We ate at the restaurant across from Schaefer's restaurant/marina since they had an area to tie up jet skis.

Check out Northeast PWC on Facebook, quite a few people from your area. Below is a picture from last fall where the canal starts/ends at the Elk River.

Hate to bring up an old post but maybe bring some new info out here. I've ridden the canal a lot. Used to launch out of Augustine beach and enter through the east end. I've not ridden up there lately. Augustine can be a busy place, I tend to search for the smaller, quieter ramps.
