Re: 94 boston whaler rage engine conversion

I completed a conversion and enjoyed the new boat all summer. Tricky on exhaust routing and hull modifications to accomodate the expansion chamber (look at pics). The stock expansion chamber exits the front of the engine and the exhaust ports thru the right side bilge compartment, while the 760 expansion chamber exits rearward, so you have to plumb the exhaust down the left chamber and hop over the center section using a RA700 (or RVT700) exhaust loop on a 62T expansion chamber. Note that my engine is a 64X but I had to use the 62T expansion chamber and the RA700 exhaust loop. I also had to section/reglass the water box to plumb the new exhaust. Otherwise pretty straightforward and WOW- she's a runner now. I also upgraded to a 760 CDI to increase rpm but my tach is a super cheapo eBay special so I really can't tell where it tops out RPM wise, but it's an honest 40 mph. Mine will be for sale in Maine whenever I can get there. With trailer and all the new engine, pump and impeller kit that I've installed (>$2000 in parts alone). Make an offer-

Go for it! Share pics please- and if you have any questions on mine (not that you'd want to follw everything) let me know. Exhaust plumbing will be only tricky thing but you'l figure it out! Cheers!

I have a 1993 13' Rage with a 2 stroke 650 I'd like to swap out for a more powerful 4 stroke. I spearfish off it and would like to be able to have three people on it. The 650 just doesn't do it. Should I be looking at a 701 or a 760 or ?? for the swap? Which would be the easier/better engine for this swap?
I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
    Cheers and Happy New Years.

Stay 2 stroke you will be adding weight going 4 stroke, 65u should fit in pretty easy and give the power your looking for. Little port work and dry out the pipe it should be around 150hp and still very reliable and cheap to replace when the time comes.

Even though I have not been in one let alone worked on one. I think what will equally help in performance is a 155mm pump. Especially for hauling three people and gear. It will greatly inprove getting it out of the hole and on plane when your loaded.

I will have one of these boats one day.

I really appreciate the thoughts/tips. But I have a strong dislike for 2 strokes (I'm a little weird). I'd really like to swap/change out for a 4 stroke.
    Cheers
