The other scary thing to think about..

Lets say they do pass the gun laws/ban, and nothing changes. Crime rates stay the same, mass murders continue to happen....Whats next? When idiots continue to cry saying we need stricter laws, they are going to go after yet another right. So what will it be next? It's damned near proven that restricting our gun rights is not going to solve the current situation with mass murders.

Cars kill alot of people each year..are they going to put governors on vehicles to only allow them to go the speed limit?

Once again...give away one right, and they will take 10 more.

you guys realize that the 'assault rifle' (bushmaster ar-15) was not actually used in the connecticut school shooting right? The kid had an AR-15 with him but it was in the trunk of his car. He used only the two hand guns.

Now try to find that info in any of the recent articles or news stories. It was in the early reports but quickly changed. It is pure tactic to scare people and aid in the push for more gun control.

Now I don't usually voice my opinion on guns but recent government activity scares me. The 2nd amendment was design to assure that the american people could stand up to the government if it ever got out of control. This country was founded on that principle.

Now we have long surpassed the point where we could go toe to toe with our government based on weapons but we have huge number of private armed citizens. The government wants total control and will take it a little at a time. The venus fly trap doesn't catch it prey quickly but kills it just the same.

Yes I know, I sound like a conspiracy theorist gun nut.

No, you are not sounding like a conspiracy theorist. All that you said has a sound base. Also, true, from the original news stories, he shot them up with 2 handguns (which has a potensial to be banned). Yes, the school shooting will be used as exploitation to un-arm good citizens, big time!

Please take action, and pass this info on to your contact list...

What to tell them: copy and paste my letter (or use as reference and create your own letter)-

Subject: No Gun Ban or Restrictions

    Hello,

In light of the very tragic shooting in the Connecticut school, I am writing to you to express my opinion in hopes it will be heard and recognized. I believe that the blame and actions our government may take will be focused on the wrong culprit. Focusing on the weapon, an inanimate object makes no sense. Man has murdered using numerous means very effectively in the past. Adam Lanza could have easily thrown a few homemade bombs in those classrooms and accomplished the same terrible results.

My concern is with this highly politicized Gun topic and the negative, untruthful, propagandized, Anti-Gun Movement/Media, is that our Gun Rights and the 2nd Amendment will be dismantled one regulation at a time. I fear that my freedom of using my guns to defend myself from evil and my freedom to use any gun for sport and hunting will be violated. I fear my CPL right may be in jeopardy too.

Please do not ban/restrict any specific weapon (AR15 or any other), type (semi auto shotgun, rifle, handgun), category, model, any magazine (30 round or any other), part or accessory, etc. To vilify one specific gun or magazine makes no sense and takes focus off the real reasons and answers. It also gives potentially dubious power to those who instate that law/decision to vilify and ban the next gun and the next. A very slippery slope.

In my mind the issue and solution is found in the individual person and being personally responsible for his actions. Our morally declining culture, the mental health issue, the medications, our ‘We don’t need God’ mentality, our legal system and prison sentencing and release, etc., all weigh in on why things like this happen and need to be highly considered for the steps to curb tragic occurrences from happening. I also support having police and/or trained concealed teachers at the schools.

Man is either good or bad. He shows love or hate. He can defend and support life or he can maliciously take it away. The object that the bad man uses to carry out evil should not be on trial or banned, whether it’s a pillow, ax, knife, baseball bat, gun or the ingredients to create a homemade bomb. It’s the man. It’s the continual downward spiral in our society that truly needs to be heavily considered.

Please, keep our freedom and liberty, our 2nd Amendment and Gun Rights fully intact. Please, DO NOT support or in-act the Dianne Feinstein Bill.

No matter what you ban or make illegal, will only affect the good, peaceable, law abiding man. The evil doer or criminal will always find the means to carry out his evil plans.

    Sincerely,

Call your elected officials in Washington. Tell them that you will NOT stand for this legislation.

Not to sound like a conspiracy guy..but the government wants the people to be dependent on them. Dumb down the people, make them dependent and take away the rights you don't want them to have. Look at how much dumb crap is being dumped on us these days from the gov.

Half the people don't are though as long as they keep getting their monthly checks.
Yes, I totally agree with this post. It scares me that the same people that are trying to get us all dependant on governmnet are the people trying to take the guns away from us. Coinsidence? I think not. If you think about it, owning a gun really has little or nothing to do with your philisophical view on economics. So why is it that the pro gun ban people are almost entirely on the left?

However, truth, facts, and logic have little to do with political debates and policy; indeed most laws are enacted not because of a desire to benefit society, but rather as a means to obtain political power and reelection.

The power and political centers of the US are NYC, Washington DC, Chicago, and certain parts of California. The NRA in order to enthrall their supporters into jubilance, always set themselves in an adversary position with these power bases. They are in the position of having a majority of the population see them (the NRA) as part of the problem and NOT the solution. Unless the NRA changes its image back to its roots, while their supporters will feel better about themselves, their political clout will diminish quickly with time. Getting rid of Ted Nugent as a front man would do them well. In the case of gun control, it is your typical soccer mom that they should court, and NOT hunting hillbillies; gun ownership should be viewed as a wholesome family activity and part of our legacy, and NOT as a means to protect yourself. And lets be honest, except for his money, does any rational soccer mom want their daughter dating or marrying a Ted Nugent?
Surprised I missed this post. Now this is a smart person. Very good post.To be able to see the reality of the situation and not be blinded by the emotions evoked when one feels rights being taken away. You guys act like this is the first time your gun rights have been threatened. I remember a very short time ago when AR's were not legal at all. If I remember right Bush made the changes. You guys act like you just figured out some great puzzle.... and have just now come to the conclusion that the Government will continue to grow as long as you feed it. It has been this way for a long time. Heading in a bad direction. Yet a lot of people have been silent until now. Until your gun rights are being threatened? IDK. A lot of people think the second amendment is only about guns. It is more than that. It has also been under fire for a long time. With most recent changes being 08 and 2010.

Re: Gun Rights, 2nd Amendment In Total Jeopardy. See Video.

    Jeff,

How do you know how people felt when AR's were banned last time? If you don't truly know, then you are only making assumptions that none of us cared.

Once again..it's not just about the guns. Look at everything else going on..the government is simply corrupt and if you fail to see that then I would recommend you open your eyes. The economy is in the tank, unemployment is at a crazy rate, damn near half of america is on social aid, we are being forced to accept a healtcare act that is amazingly flawed at best, and now they just want to keep taking and taking. Pay more taxes, have less jobs, pay(in one way or another) for the Obamacare...and then take our rights such as firearm ownership?

Also, they aren't just going after banning assault rifles. They want way more than that. As Tferrg and others have posted, some would like for nearly ALL guns to be gone.

It all starts somewhere...any firearm bill that is passed will be just as retarded as everything else that has gone on under Obama's administration...and I can guarantee there will be alot of fine print.
