2013 Sport Open Spec Rules Changes

I haven't had a chance to sit down and rewrite the official rules and I apologize for that. I should have the official rules ready and posted next week. But, in the mean time, I wanted to give you all a quick overview of the changes that Tom and I came up with for 2013. These will be the rules changes from the existing rules, that way if you want to start your build, we won't be holding you back.

Aftermarket hulls and hoods. Gen 2 X2s will be able to run aftermarket top decks as well. (Trinity, Bullet and GT X2s are now legal) Stock hulls may be modified to the IJSBA Mod class rules, ie keel kits, etc.

Magnum Pumps will be allowed on all models up to 145mm in diameter.

Stock pumps from other like-manufacturer models will be allowed - Blasters can use the stock 155 GP pump, Doos can use the stock 148 XPL, etc.

2 SETS of sponsons will be allowed (dimensions must meet the criteria outlined in the IJSBA rulebook)

GP1200 motors can be bore to 1mm over on all models

Kawasaki motors can be bored to 2mm (standard SXR pistons)

Kawasaki DI1100 motors will be allowed (HX must retain stock mapping)

Gen 2 X2s and Blasters will be allowed the following:

    Aftermarket CDIs
    Aftermarket or modified stock Flywheels

    HX - webber motor change
HX must adhere to IJSBA stock class rules. (I still need to talk with Mark about the boost)

Tom and I both believe that these changes will help move the class in the right direction. We were both extremely happy with the growth of the class from a simple idea in my head to what it became by the end of the year. Hopefully, it will continue to grow. Good luck in 2013 to everyone and be on the look out for the official rules in a week or so.
