    Best Ignition for SXR 800?

I am new to the sport of Jet Ski racing and since buying a SXR800 I have made a few modifications to my ski. I am interested in putting an after market ignition in my ski after having a detonation issue over the weekend (Installed Wiseco 82mm pistons and had the cylinder ported) . I think the detnation may have been fuel related but I am going to install an ignition as I have been told that the 6 degree timing advance that comes with the factory pipes is not the best option.

I have been considering either of the following ignitions but really want some good advice as to what would be suitable for my boat based on my build so far.
Advent T3 (Jake Barker suggested this ignition with a Kommander Curve based on the Dry Pipe)
Igni-Pro SX-R.com (Is this he same as the Macc Racing Programmable Ignition?)
Mitsubishi CDI-10R (I have been thinking about getting one of these as it's plugs into the standard wiring harness wit ease and is genuine quality)
    Igni-Power Programmable

    2010 Kawasaki SXR 800
Kommander Industries Head with 29cc Domes
Ported Cylinder (Ray Easson) Will be boring to 82.50mm 791cc - Going with Genuine Pistons
Factory "Wet Pipe" with ported exhaust manifold (Ray Easson) only open on the bottom screw a quarter of a turn.
Standard 38mm Carburetors with Choke Plates Removed and replaced with primer
    Kommander Reed Spacers
    VForce 3 Reeds
Ported intake manifold to match Vforce 3 Reed Valves (Larger Stuffers)
    Tau Ceti Tornado Flame Arrestors
TBM Dual Cooling with Flow Control Valve Installed (1 line to manifold and the other to the exhaust)
    80mm Bore Exit Nozzle
Standard Impeller used at the moment (I have a Dynafly 13/22 -5mm that I will be installing)
    TBM Racing Super Pump Cone
Macc Racing Carbon Fiber 3DR Tubbies
    TBM Racing Intake Grate
    TBM Racing Ride Plate
    TBM Racing Rear Sponsons
Rick Roy Pole with Blowsion Turn Plate & Bar Accessories

If you can please give me some advice on what would be the best ignition to use for my boat that would be much appreciated.

Re: Best Ignition for SXR 800?

I'm running the Advent T-3 with D-23 curve set. My boat is set up with a wet pipe, 175 psi, 40mm Novi's, mag pump and TBM Flywheel. The ignition made a huge difference and no longer have to worry about detonation at high RPM. You can send your T-3 straight to Advent and have the desired curve set installed for $50.00

Thanks for the reply Watrboy.. It would be interesting to see what other people have to say about the other ignitions available.

Thanks Johnny. I have ordered a Advent from Kommander Industries and they are going to set this up for me. The CDI-10R does look like a quality CDI but if changes need to be made it would be hard to find someone to make changes to the curves.

Re: Best Ignition for SXR 800?

Okay fella's I finally got my Advent and parts for my ski after waiting a while. The Advent I got has the curve set listed as D4 and there was only the installation instructions and no information relating to what curve is which. It has been set to curve 3 with 8000rmp rev limit. Is this normal? I hope it has the correct curve for my ski.

Re: Best Ignition for SXR 800?

Run either curve 1 or 2 if you intend to run pump gas. 3 and 4 require race fuel, 104 and 109 respectively. Your rev limiter is fine at 8000.
Here is the breakdown. The D4 curve-set is by Kommander Industries, all 4 are custom curves. If you want a copy of the actual curve mapping I can email them to you, as they are not available through the Advent website.

#1 (SXR-1) is a "Limited" up to 185lbs on 91 octane fuel minimum.
#2 (SXR-2) is a "Limited" up to 180lbs on 92 octane fuel minimum.
#3 (SXR-3) is a "Superstock" up to 200lbs on 104 octane fuel minimum.
#4 (SXR-4) is a "Superstock" up to 200lbs on 109 octane fuel minimum.

Having said all that I do not know if your octane calculation methods there are the same as here in the USA! Make sure you are running the equivalent of the fuel octane ratings I specified, at or below the compression stated.
