Ribbon Delete Yamaha VX 110 Question

I have been doing some research in relation to removing the OEM Ribbon in the Intake Manifold in my Yamaha VX 110 Sport. If I was to remove the Ribbon would there be any issues with the Air/Fuel mixture etc ? would I see any gains in HP and speed ? or would this be a bad idea ? would the ECU be to compensate for the Ribbon not being there ? I already have a Cold Air Intake and there is a noticeable difference to having the old restrictive Air Box. I know that kits can be bought for the FZR's and FX SHO's etc to replace the OEM mesh Ribbon but there are no such kits that I can see for the VX 110.Would this be something that would be worth doing in regards to performance or would it be something that would potentially damage my ski and cause me problems and what is the actual purpose of the Ribbon, its obviously there for a reason it does look very restrictive in relation to Air Flow, any help or tips would be very appreciated ....
