    Supercharger Rebuild Update (100-200) hours

I just bought a leftover 2011 RXT-260. One of the questions that came up was "Since the 2012 supercharger rebuild time has been increased from 100 to 200 hours is there any plan to make that retroactive to 2011 or earlier. The salesman didn't know but we went to the parts department and confirmed that the supercharger and rebuild kit have the same part numbers for 2011 and 2012 so they should have the same rebuild time frame. Next a trip to the service department. The service manager said you still need to do the rebuild at 100 hours on the 2011 but after the first rebuild, it would be 200 hours for each rebuild thereafter. I'm still not convinced.

I contacted BRP and here is the response.

    Thank you for contacting BRP.

In response to your request, we recently revised the recommended maintenance on the 2011-2012
Sea-Doo supercharger. The new requirement is now 200 hours, irrespective of the number of years.

    Thank you for your time.

It doesn't look like the dealer sales and service departments are a little out of the loop. If you have a supercharged 2011 approaching 100 you may have just gotten a 100 hour reprieve. I would verify it with your local dealer to make sure you don't get stuck with any warranty issues. Hopefully they will put out an ECU update to increase the maintenance interval.

Gents.....to avoid down time on your ski, check slip every 25 hours. Personally, I wouldn't wait to rebuild the charger at 200 hours, I'd do at 100 hours. And, by 200 hours, most peoples' warranty would be long gone leaving you with the $2000+ bill to repair the damage when the bearings go.........

TommyGunner, that seems to be the concensus. BRP certainly upgraded the washers but that may have exposed the second weakest link at the bearing....And some "cynics" have said that BRP did this to help sales. They are probably right. You are totally right on most folks being out of warranty at 200 hours. My guess is that with 3 kids and two Seadoos that even with access to waterfront mine will only have about 150 hours after 2 years. This is my first 4 stroke SeaDoo.

Re: Supercharger Rebuild Update (100-200) hours

Finished the season with 188 hours on the ski. On smooth water the ski will still snap your head back in sport mode and gets to 71 GPS mph with my 250 pounds on it in seconds. I am pulling the charger and getting it rebuilt over the winter so there are no interruptions next season. But from my sample size of one, 200 hours regardless of years as a rebuild interval seems perfectly plausible. That 188 hours is over 4 years.

I bought my 2014 RXP-X new. I decided to get the S/C rebuilt at 183 hours. Slip was never checked. I requested the dealer check it before rebuilding. Slip was well within spec at 90 inch lbs. All components that came out of the S/C looked great. Zero issues with ski. It's always hit full rpm. I think their 200 hour rebuild interval is reasonable for stock machines.
