Can this trailer carry this much weight?

I acquired an early 90's galvanized Karavan trailer (bolt together). No papers, and all the trailers info is gone from the manufactures sticker. I don't even know what model it is. I sent a picture to Karavan and they can't tell me for sure.

    I'm carrying a 2000 GP1200R and a 2004 XLT1200.

Any issues with that much weight?

Should I upgrade the tires? Any thing else? What determines trailer capacity?

    Thanks!

What happens if it's too much for the trailer? Cataclysmic failure???

Tire blowouts, poor trailering, and yes, the trailer breaking up.

My parents had the rear crossbeam of their trailer snap, thank god they were a couple of hundred feet from the launch when it happened. They had bought a larger ski to replace one of the pair that was on their trailer, and didn't check at all to see whether the weight of the new ski would exceed the trailer limits.

Turns out they were about 200 lbs over. The trailer was about 7 years old, they had been trailering overweight for about a season. They had also blown 3 tires that year, and yes, they were overweight on the tire capacity as well.

Basically it is a bad idea.

I would start by reading the tire sidewall, which will tell you the load limit for the tire. If you are over on the tire, chances are very good that you are over on the trailer as a whole.

At least post a picture of it. You need to make sure at the very least that the axle is heavy duty enough to handle that weight.
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am not a big man.

It looks in good shape it should be able to hold the weight. But just try it...load the skis on it and see if it holds. Shake the jet skis a little and you should know.

Oh wait take that back I just looked at the bigger pic. I don't know if it will work because it looks to small for a 3 seater.
