Has anyone tried a custom d-cut stock plate? I loved the stock d-cut plates on my POS 650ts and x2 for turning, but think it might be a little too much for the heavy front end of these skis and the light rear end. T-bone, where do you have your fcv set?

a stock 750 with single 38mm carb puts out 63hp ,. with stock dual 40mm carbs its 75hp ,.. add the light porting , the pipe , and the lightweight flywheel im using its got to be easily pushing over 80hp

Monster the dual carb small pins make 75hp from the factory. With porting and a pipe 80 or so would be easy I think.

I haven't tried a d cut stock plate. I have a Rend plate on now and I'm looking for a jet dynamics one. What do you guys reccommend? Cave I see you have the rend plate too.

I think the ocean pro skegged one is popular too.

Cavey how is a stock sp dual carb gonna push the same as a stock bp dual carb? I'm not saying a 63hp motor can't be made to get at least 80hp, but hp doesn't come cheap and depending on who did your putting, what porting you have done, how healthy the motor is etc. all factor in. A lightweight fly wheel won't change your hp either, it'll just give you better throttle response and change the power band in your rpm's. I highly doubt dual carbs, a pipe and light porting is giving you easily over 17hp.

    It opens around 1/4 throttle.

Maybe that's true, but how? I mean how is a sp gonna push the same as a bp?
Cavey if you started out with 75hp then I apologize and I do see it very possible, but the f/w still has nothing to do with hp lol.

its all good man no worries

SP vs BP is not what makes it 63-75 hp,,.. going from 38mm to 80mm of intake is what gives the extra 12HP

the only differences between the SP/BP is the port timing , wrist pin size , 10/12 intake bolts , flywheel hole size ,bigger crank and crank end for coupler is 20mm vs 18mm for a SP ,.. so the only real difference for making power is the port timing ,

that really only changes where the powerband is

    Re: "Angry Cardinal" 550/750 build

Why is the 90 650's and 91's listed as having the same hp? 91's have different porting and bigger carbs. Sp's use 40mm keihins where bp's use 44mm mikuni i-series.

err , you my friend are very confused ,.. let me help ya

    86-90 the 650 was a base 52 HP with the 28mm carb

    91-95 the 650 was a base 57HP with a 38/40mm carb

only the later model kawi motors came with the mikuni carbs,.. SXI pro & later ,. alot of BP kawis came with kehins

kawi i-series carbs are 40mm BTW

    Well said.

Group K has some good info on their site. I believe in addition to that the larger Keihin duals/ large intake tract and associated sp porting work well as a matched set, as do the big pin with smaller 38mm Mikunis, smaller intake tract, and bp porting. I have yet to verify this personally, but it is interesting.
