Looks like a few of us are planing on meeting off of 528 in the Indian river Sunday morning. So far it looks like it will be 2 stand ups, couch, and a x2 for now.

Re: New Stand up Rider looking for others in Indian River and surrounding
Sounds good,
I got a couple of issue to take care of right now, but i should be in good shape for Sunday.
Where abouts on 528? Last weekend I launched from the park (Yellow) in cocoa. Its small but works and has a pubic dock. The week before we just pulled off and dumped it between the trees. I wast too trilled about that. There was a lot of broken glass and trash.
The island looks like a good place to beach up, but there is a big No Wake around it.
Thoughts.

I thought that ramp had a pole in the middle so only kaiaks could launch there. Did they move it?
Last time I dropped in off of 528 we launched with a cart off the north side, and went under the bride to the south side. There is a smaller no wake zone on that side so that's the side I try and launch from. On the north side your right, too big of a idle zone. So as long as someone get there early, they can take one of the 3 ramp spots on the south side and hold it for everyone else.1989 Kawasaki X2

No pole that I saw. In fact there was a small fishing boat (about 12ft) getting hauled out when we got there. The ramp is really small the hill to get to the ramp is about roller coaster grade. It sure test your straps when pulling out of there. Also the first five feet is sea weed city.
So we want to try and grab a spot long here? (in Red)Last edited by Reborn; 07-03-2012, 07:56 PM.

Re: New Stand up Rider looking for others in Indian River and surrounding
I guess they removed it, there used to be a sign that said hand launching only and the pole kept anyone from using a trailer, but I remember it was a extreme hill. years ago when I went there to look
Yes, on the side you have marked red, there are 3 spots that a trailer can back down, but they get taken first. Its shallow on that side for a bit, but once you get past the manatee zone, it gets deeper around 4-6 feet until you get closer to the channel. Worst case, I would drop everything on the north side and Idle around, and set up camp on the south side. There are a few cut through that can be waled through, just cant get a trailer back there. unless I can get all my crap shuttled to the island with the family and then just ride on the north side of the island. It all has to be played by ear, I like Titusville is nice because there is enough room for everyone, but its so far away now when I live right here
As far as glass and stuff, I wear shoes now at all times unless I am on my boat, the river has so much crap in it, and Turf kills my feet after a day on the water.1989 Kawasaki X2

you all should just come down this way and launch out of grant. the new ramp is nice and spoil islands plentiful
and only about a 100ft of slow wake, no idle around hereLast edited by imsobored152; 07-03-2012, 10:38 PM.

Re: New Stand up Rider looking for others in Indian River and surrounding
I know what you mean; I sometimes miss my big couch when we need to shuttle to an island.
I think we can snag a trailer spot in the AM, is there one which is better than the others? I would think the closer to the channel the better. I think I’ll scope it out this week.
imsobored152—Where are you talking about, post some aerial shots from map quest. Can you get free Sunday?

Re: New Stand up Rider looking for others in Indian River and surrounding
heres the link for mapquest, I dunno how to do what you did coloring it and stuff. So hopefully it works
IF it worked, then Jorgensen, the old ramp, should be dead center of the map. the new ramp half a mile south isnt in the photos, but its directly across from the next island down in the photo, mainland side. Its larger than jorgensen and its paved with more parking, but it fills up a bit faster since its "better"

I've been there, it's been awhile, almost a year, we went out to ride at monster hole when there was a tropical storm off shore. We launched from the park at the inlet. It's just one heck of a drive to go all the way out there1989 Kawasaki X2

It all depends, I've taken my little 750ss out and it did ok, but the surf will break things fast if your not prepared. But and a couch all you can is jump the waves.
I scoped out the south side of 528, and there are 3 spots to drop a trailer, the east most one is the best looking one, then middle. But everything will have to be played by ear if they are all taken and be flexible. The first one that makes it to the river picks what everyone does. I have 4 people meeting me there also, so we should all be able to find a spot. Worst case I will have a raft to tow stuff to the island and dump stuff and my wife and kids off. I am going to try and get there between 9-10, I will know for sure by Saturday. Wind has been coming out of the south so the south side has had a slight chop as the day goes on, but it's not to bad.1989 Kawasaki X2

Re: New Stand up Rider looking for others in Indian River and surrounding
I just did a street level google maps walk thru, found all 3 spots your talking about. hopefully dont need 4x4 to get in and out, but other wise seems like good drop in spots. So you just leave your vehicle backed into the spot? or you park and let others use it too?
IF I go(Sundays my Bday, not sure if my wifes got anything planned yet), what vehicles am I looking for, im usually fashionably lateLast edited by imsobored152; 07-05-2012, 11:21 PM.
