Hi Jay, yes, I do have Gordon Jennings' book, as well as Bells, and Blairs. Although I believe Jennings' was first, I like the layout and discussion of Bells' best. (if you sit down with both books, it would seem that whoever wrote the 2nd one, did it with a copy of the others in hand as a guide!)

I can barely even understand Blair's. I'm due for another re-read of it sometime soon!

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. I'm looking forward to water-testing and getting some rpm and speed numbers when I go home in a few weeks. I doubt I've reached my target speed/rpm's, the exhaust is going to be a major holdup to that. And, unfortunately, I've picked up my next project, so the Surfjet stuff may go on the back burner for a few months....

Great write up! Have you seen the new ones by PowerSki? These look pretty awesome too.

    Re: 1984 SurfJet!

I have not ridden it yet, I finished it back in early March, the lakes where I live were still frozen. I've been away from home ever since. Yes, steering is by leaning, with a hydraulic throttle control.

There are a few videos of SurfJets on youtube, they look ok but somewhat slow. I'm hoping to continue to improve on the speed. If I can get close to 30mph I'd be very happy. Like my Jetmate, I'm kinda running out of things to do to make further improvements here!

I've never seen a Powerski in person, but the videos do look amazing.

Put a few vids up on photobucket. Can't seem to login to YouTube yet (account trouble?) but will post them up there as well when I get it figured out.
