New Scanner tool for Sea Doo

SBT has just released their new Sea Doo Scanner Tool 102 and it looks to be a compact unit for your toolbox. Reasonably priced under $300.00 and you can diagnose problems, make keys, adjust engine parameters, ect. on both two strokes and four strokes.

    Cool !

Not limited to a couple of skis.

Go here www.shopsbt.com then jetski engine parts, then at the bottom of the list, Sea Doo Diagnostic Tools. Click on the picture of the 102 for details.

I got a notice in my email today, so if you are not signed up to get notices from SBT, I guess you lose out on new product notices.
I find it nice to know what both, SBT and the Watercraft Superstore ( wcss ) have to offer new. You must sign up at both sites I think to get notices from both sites, although I may be wrong about that. Just click on the signup box in the lefthand border of wcss home page for the news from wcss, and go to shopsbt.com for the other signup site if necessary.

This diagnostic tool is only available to SBT dealers who spend $4000.00 or more per year at SBT, so it will probably not be in the WCSS catalog.

Its almost an april fools joke...you gotta maintain a $4g in purchases a year for it to be free. Otherwise it costs $600 a year.

Re: New Scanner tool for Sea Doo

There are a few hundred of us who spend $4K in part of a month during the busy season. I know of guys working out of their garages that spend $4K or more per year there.

Hey, you cannot pay someone to reverse engineer a somewhat complex processor, then transfer it to a user friendly computer program, with Quick Installation manual, users manual, help menu, ect, ect, and expect to be able to give it away to such a limited profession of buyers, and then break even on it, or make a buck. What sounds like alot of money to one guy, may not sound like that at all to Greg Pickern who had to bankroll it.
Knowing Greg, I bet he is very nerviously waiting to see if anyone buys it so he can at least recoup his investment. It is not like every IT guy can do this type work and get a good working program built without flaws and glitches.

This is a tool, not a toy. It is difficult enough to get a DIY'er to buy a decent torque wrench or compression guage, I'm sure that Greg is not banking on selling many to the casual seasonal pwc'er.

Most of us racers wanted this sort of tool so bad 15 years ago that some paid in excess of $1500.00 just to get a handheld oem programmer so they could set their timing and program a few boats for keys. The handheld programmers that the public could get do not reset timing curves and rev limiters, they only do normal timing corrections, keys and such, and the "Racing Programmers" would only do those two functions on 2 year model 787 ignitions, '95 and '96, but even then, you had to put a '96 CDI in to replace the '95 CDI in electrical box to even do that.

The upside is it would be updated every year...but you can get one that works on 3 machines for $400 on ebay and you can get one of those handheld programmers for ~$1000.

I freakin missed one $300 last year and i'm still kicking myself.

I buy a lot of stuff...but not much from SBT. I got a great setup with a local dealer on parts.

$800 would be my target price point if I was trying to sell them....but what do I know. Maybe a model specifically for 2 strokes only thats cheaper...?

Guys, I contacted SBT and asked that a version be made available to anyone who buys and engine. I own two SeaDoos (one a DI) and I know this thing would pay for itself in a heartbeat. I forget who took the call but she said she would let the "powers that be" know. We should start a letter writing campaign and get them to open up sales to us shadetree PCW mechs.
