The pump is the big thing that houses the impeller,it is held to the hull with 4- 17mm nuts.

    Re: Speedometer Issue

You can remove the steering & reverse cables & then remove the steering nozzle & reverse gate then remove the pump.

The speedometer gives a reading through a speed
sensor. Speed sensor is installed on riding plate. It
works with the water flow which turns a magnetic
paddle wheel that triggers an electronic pick-up
that in turn sends a speed signal to the speedometer.
The paddle wheel is protected by the pick-up
    housing.
    1. Pick-up housing
    2. Paddle wheel
To check if the speed sensor is operational, disconnect
    the speed sensor connector housing
    from inside bilge.
Using an appropriate terminal remover (Snap-on
    TT600-4), remove the PURPLE/YELLOW and
BLACK/ORANGE wires from the tab housing of
    the speed sensor.
    Reconnect the PURPLE/YELLOW and BLACK/
ORANGE wires in the receptacle housing.
Connect the positive probe of a multimeter to
speed sensor PURPLE/YELLOW wire and the
negative probe to speed sensor BLACK/ORANGE
    wire.
With the safety lanyard removed, depress the start/
stop button to activate the MPEM timer.
Slowly rotate the paddle wheel. Every 1/8 turn, the
observed voltage should fluctuate between 5.5
    and 8.5 Vdc.

Ok, im pretty sure i did this incorrect. Can anyone exlpain a few details?

It says to take the Purple/Yellow and Black/Orange wire out of the tab housing? (What would that be? Does that mean take them out of the wiring harness in the hull?)

Then it says to Reconnect the PURPLE/YELLOW and BLACK/ORANGE wires in the receptacle housing.???? WTF i just took them out of the harness?? Now i have to put them back in? What is a receptacle housing?

Basically, i found the plug (Wire harness) in the hull disconnected it and hooked the meter to the Purple/Yellow and the negative to the Black/Orange then spun the wheel...No Reading? Then i started thinking why would i have to hit the start/stop button becuase nothing was hooked up to the wheel......do i need to take out the 2 wires and leave the 3rd connected then put the meter on the 2 wires and spin the wheel?

    Re: Speedometer Issue

Well i got the new sensor today and found that there isnt even a plug on the end. This sensor is brand new in the original package but the end looks like it was just cut?

So im assuming i just need to cut the plug off of the old sensor splice it together than get some type of tubing to put around the connections and seal the splice.....will that work?

YOu need to hit the button to power up the mpem so it sends current to the sensor, with no current you are measuring 2 dead wires. Pics would help for the other issue.

    Re: Speedometer Issue

Yea i hit the start/stop button.....but i was still testing dead wires...either way i have a new sensor now which is my next problem......

The new sensor just ends and doesnt have any medal connectors on the end of it to fit into the original plastic connector??? The sensor is in the original bag? Thats why im wondering if it was suppose to be spliced together or do i have to buy the metal conductors for each wire?

Im pretty sure if i splice them together then heat shrink the rubber seal around them they will be fine.

    Re: Speedometer Issue

Go back to the mpem; open up the wiring diagram in the manual, find which connectors are for the speedo sensor, and see if you have current at the wiring harness. Never bought a new sensor, not sure on why it's like that....
