    Re: 2000 Seadoo GSX-RFI

Everything does work on the ski, but I did not know the VTS was hooked up to the center gauge. Thats interesting. Now if my center gauge fails I know my VTS won't be working either. But I'm very happy with my purchase, and I'm sure my gf will love the fact that we won't tip when we both ride.

I think on mine the motor for it is dead but i havent looked into it. yeah it does have the 951 and im hoping its as good as the gsx, what worries me is that i didnt do any research before i bought it and i keep finding people saying they have a lot of issues with the 951 so i guess i will see next year.

If its just the the trim motor its an easy fix. Do you have the shop manual for your ski? If you want it let me know and I can email it to you.

The trim goes b/c the boot gets weathered...also make sure you have the plastic clips vs. hose clamps. The keep the boot sealed to the housing better and the boot lasts longer.

when the actual housing goes out it is usually b/c the potting on top contracted and some water got in. You can usually find cracks in the potting around the edge.

The RFIs are great machines; like all 2 strokes its all in the maintence. I have a 99 I'm parting out right now that had 240hrs on it on the original motor before one side lost compression.

Thanks for that info Minnetonka4me! What model are you parting out and what size engine do you have? My mom's fiance just rebuilt the top end of his machine and accidentally filled up the engine when he hooked the hose up to it. It never ran right after that, theres already damage to the front cylinder. He might need a couple parts, but he has a 99 GTX RFI with the same motor as mine.

    Yup this one is a 99 GSX-rfi...

Man, peeps really need to read a little before they touch these machines!! That would suck if he wrecked his newly rebuilt motor.

[QUOTE=justin2408;2891073]You will have to rebuild the top end at some point because its a 2 stroke but other than that I've only had minor issues. Replaced the rectifier, VTS broke but never fixed it.[/QUOTE

Where did you set your VTS? Mine broke and I was told I can just disconnect the linkage rod. Any thoughts?
