2 strokes still going to be banned on Mead, Mohave and Powell in 2012?

I was wondering if this ban is still going to happen? If I remember correctly, the EIS of 2003 or 2004 called for an all out ban on 2 strokes on said lakes after 2012 or maybe after 2011? I can't imagine it was overturned, but I can be hopeful.

I have had so much enjoyment on those lakes on my 2 strokes, it would be a shame to see those days end because of bad information.

I thought the preliminary ban came back with zero impact so it was lifted ?

Yes. The ban is effective Jan 1st 2013. There has been no activity for about 10 years to overturn the ruling. Its a very sad day for the so called "Recreational Area" where only the people that can afford a new 4 stroke will be able to utilize it. They have already begun raising the use fees to cover what will surely be a huge drop in revenues collected once all the 2 stroke owners (IMO probably still 50- 60% of all PWC users in the LMNRA, maybe more) are not allowed to ride there, and thus will not be paying the lake use and vehicle entry fees. The whole ban idea is stupid. It is akin to telling all drivers of vintage automobiles that they can never drive the roads again because their car doesnt meet the current emmissions ruling! The EPA has already killed the 2 stroke after next years models due to the new EPA Marine Engine ruling that is effective in 2012, so why not let the 2 strokes phase them selves out? I just dont get it

...but presumably still legal from Laughlin on down. The same water, it makes no sense. Did the AWA want to campaign againist this bad ruling?

The AWA is the only reason we are riding there today. Had it not been for them going against the environmental regime Bluewater Network, who were the champions of the ban, we would have been kicked off the lake after the initial ban was enacted in the early 2000s ( I think it was 2001) Instead, the AWA was instrumental in getting us back on the water after what ended up being a full year ban of all pwc. And when the lake management plan was finalized it gave us 10+ years but that time is coming to an end soon. 2 More summers left.

To the OP, this ban does not include Lake Powell, at this time anyway, its only Lake Mead, Lake Mojave and the river between the two.

Racers will still be able to buy them. Some how they can get around it. So there will still be new ones out there. Just less of them.

Just remember to look at the puppet you are voting for and see who has their hand in the pants or skirt. 2 Stroke motors are not the cleanest things on earth, but the tiny amount of them running does nothing compared to a vast majority of other pollution sources. It's just easier to attack and win a victory over something seen as a nuisance than attack the farmers or the big industries that give them funding. Speaking of NWO look up Agenda 21 Momarsky.The elites want to estabildh a 1 world government , and cut the population by more then half and lock up land an water ways.I dont think the elites will play by these rules tho.
