Project SXR 1100

Well here we go with another SXR 1100 build. My goal is a 60mph reliable pump gas ski.
I picked up a 99 ZXI 1100 and trition trailer from a friend of a friend and a 04 SXR hull from Eric Malone @ www.ericmalone.com

The ZXI is in good shape but the Ebox needs attention and the front cylinder only has 70psi. So the Ebox is at www.jetskisolutions.com and john is going to do up a custom box. I will do a new topend and send out the crank to www.crankworks.com for a rebuild.

The SXR was one of erics boats that he ended up taking the engine out of to put into one of his custom hulls. It needs some fiberglass/gelcoat work but he hooked me up with it for good deal. Eric was great to deal with. Also he had a STX driveshaft that I purchaced.

So, I'll be posting what I am thinking as far as setting this ski up and what components I will be using. I will need some help on the do's and don'ts and what works on getting to my goal.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Update. Hull is going out for some repair in the next week.... Buying parts and making a list on what all is needed....Need to start tearing down the ZXI and get the engine removed.... Need more time..... I'll update again soon.

So here is what I am thinking as far as the setup.

Engine - Stock porting... Head mod with compression @ 150psi max (91 pump gas safe)... Rebuilt OEM crank, welded and trued... SXR 800 bed plate... ZXI motor mounts...New seals/gaskets ect...


Exhaust - Stock system with 180 to SXR waterbox... Where to buy the 180 U bend pipe??? What is the hot setup to dry it out??? Waterbox mods???


Ignition - Jetski Solutions custom box... 3 deg timing advance by bypassing air temp sensor??? Keeping stator cooling.


Carbs/Intake - 44mm Mikunis on 1.5 SXR 800 R&D dominator intakes with reed stuffers and spacers... Blowsion trip pickup.


Pump/Drive - Stock pump with TBM super pump cone...Duel cooling fittings to engine.. STX drive shaft...ZXI couplers... Impeller and nozzle sizes??? Skat or Solas??? 82 reduction/ 85 steer ???


Hull - Blowsion Destroyers...TBM intake grate.. Ride plate??? Stock hood mod for more air....AC handle pole..TBM turnplate... UMI extended bars... TBM bumpers.. Hydroturf mats with kicker.... Blowsion rail caps...

I am sure I am forgetting something and will be adding more. Any input on some of the mods and sizes that I need is greatly appreciated.

What are you doing with the ski? Racing? or just a fun ski?

I tried the R&D and its much beter than stock. I just got a TBM to try but the water is getting cold. The TBM I guess people like alot but i havent tried it yet.

I tried the R&D and its much beter than stock. I just got a TBM to try but the water is getting cold. The TBM I guess people like alot but i havent tried it yet.

Fun ski. Haven't raced pwcs in a long while but would like to if they have a +40 class for GP ski and the races closer to me.

I have a JetDynamics TT plate and a modded stocker to try as far as ride plates. I was thinking of trying the R&D,TBM or something else. Thanks for info.

You can race your 1100 in vet open.

FWIW I'm a big fan of the JD plate.
