The area of the channel which is immediately north of the dike is considered Canyon Lakes slalom course but further up the channel there is a small section of the channel which governed by the BLM and Canyon Lake (to there dismay) has no jurisdiction there. You can “get away” with riding in the BLM section of the channel, mainly because there’s no one there to tell you otherwise. The riding area is approx 300 yrds long by about 100-150’ wide and when the water is high there is a river that runs through overgrown trees and bushes for about ½ mile up stream (before it gets to shallow to ride. Its small but it’s a fairly cool area to ride. The water is always muddy brown but its not stagnet. There is no paved access and it can be difficult to find if someone who knows how to get there doesn’t show you the way. Google earth it to find it on your own and it’s a good idea to have a 4 wheel drive truck. Enjoy!

Assuming what 227 is true and it is BLM land, why does he need an "invite" to public land?

It's small and shallow, straight commando style to get into,I almost rolled my lifted crewcab getting in,you just launch from the dirts edge, I rode up into the shallows and the water was so brown that I hit a car tire under the water and got launched and landed in about 8" of water....if you notice on the west side of the river there is a city limit sign you can't go past it or yes they can give you a $25 trespassing ticket...it's a great place to go and practice or test check out into the reeds or canyon lake practice on YouTube and judge for yourself.....we might be riding there Sunday or perris

There's a reason why places like this are often referred to as "secret spots" . . . . . .
It's because people who want to see them stay open and usable don't advertise the locations, make open invitations and post directions on huge websites for every irresposible moron in the country to see.

    Nice work you've accomplished here . . . . . . it'll probably be closed within a year now.

    Brilliant. . . . . . . .

I went there several times last year with Subnsxr on here. All my trips were during the winter. It's OK for a quick ride but it is a biatch to get into. I would say 4 wheel drive is almost a must...

don't worry, most people don't have 4x4 trucks, or a working knowledge of navigating dirt roads, I wont be going as I just sold my 4x4 and replaced it with a Ram... I'll stick to the river. I know how people feel about secret spots, I have a few of my own when it comes to dirtbikes, motocross test tracks, pro spots, downhill mtn. bike runs, etc, right here in Riverside & San Berdoo county that no one knows about...

Seriously Crocket are you for real? I don’t know who you are or how long you’ve been jet skiing but the back channel of Canyon lake is about as secret as Area 51. People call it a secret spot because its tucked away in some remote canyon and it sounds cool but the truth is, that kid that started this thread is probably the only one who hasn’t ridden there. I highly doubt the floodgates are going to open because of this thread.

Re: what's the deal with Canyon Lake?

its really not that big of a secret its been flooded with stupid people who dont know about jet skis the rules of the water or boating in general and they fly right by the beach and spray swimmers and run into trees and generally piss people off anyone want to go pm me id love to have more people to ride with out here.

p.s. there are a few people who think it is their lake no matter how much longer you have been going than them and will be stupid and give you crap regardless

i go on average twice a week and there are tons of people who will help out and loan tools even let you ride their ski just to try it out and there are also people who try to start fights start fires break bottles and leave trash there is good and bad here just like anywhere else

Comment might be a bit harsh. I like the wide variety of personalities the lake brings. The stand up riders that come out there are great people to talk to and ride with. We set up a small race course to encourage friendly competition. Show off our amateur freestyle moves.
