John at RCJS also sells these plates. That's where is buy them. With the motor in the ski the plate is just easy.

I used a couple of 1/8" NPT pipe plugs. Worked sweet

I haven't had my engine out so I don't know if the 2 screw holes are threaded all the way into the engine. Gotta ask some of the gurus on here that tear their engine apart on a weekly basis.

While we're at it, in a stock set up (with the stock drain plug intact), if there is water in the drain hole, is there pressure pushing the water or does it just sit there until the plug is pulled to drain it?

yes if you tap it metal will get inside the case. and dont use long bolts you only need a 1/2 of thread to seal it.
simson i recomend you just retap the treads or heilcoil the plate boltst unless your going to rebuild the motor soon

can't you lube the tap up with some grease to get all the metal shavings?

you need to lube it when you tap it to help it cut the threads.. but honestly for the price of gaskets and such maybe you should just give it a quick overhaul and get that sealed correctly.. otherwise you will probably be giving it an overhaul because of the leak.. only it will cost more then a set of gaskets.

Wow! This helped me so much. Thank you for the pics. This is my first time tackling any job like this and I was very intimidated. Your pics showed me exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing.
