Re: Mr bojangles Truck Bed Ski Launch System........

I was planning on something very similar for 2 standups. My chevy bed is 2 inches skinnier wheel well to wheel well for them both so I was thinking of making the 2 outside bunks higher so both skis lean in the middle. For the bed bunks I was just gonna use carpet and use an electric quad winch and pulleys for each side. The ramp was the only thing I was still planning out and the wheels are perfect. Thanks again Mr. B, That's 2 things you've helped me with...

Re: Mr bojangles Truck Bed Ski Launch System........

Hey Mr. B, I have a question that hopefully you can answer. When I build mine it's gonna be for 2 standups, but the width of them combined is like 2" wider than my bed, wheel well to wheel well. Any ideas on making it work? I was thinking of making the 2 outside bunks taller than the 2 middle so the skis lean in, but that won't work with a ramp that's level. Do you think it would be safe to have the bunks on a slope so the nose of the skis clear the wheel wells? Or should I make a deck over the wells? Or, what do you suggest? I plan on using a single quad electric winch in the middle and using shackles and pullies on each side.

I would make them flat and go above the wheel wells if it where me, here are some pics I dug up on the net for you to get some ideas.......................

the only issue I see is that the ram would be steeper and that it would be a bit heaver if you made the part that goes in the bed all one piece

Re: Mr bojangles Truck Bed Ski Launch System........

Thanks a lot man. So you'd suggest making both sets of rails seperate? I was thinking too, making them over the rails wld give me room under them for the ramp to slide in and out. I should just make my trailer for both standups and my bed for my sitdown, just worried about where and how to store it when I'm done. Unless I put the standups on their stands and make the ramp attach to the center 2 rails on the trailer and use that to store the sitdown. Thanks again man, this has me stumped.

well between having my sitdown, or standup in the bed, the stand up is definitely easier to get in and out, and I would go for the split plan. Now with the sitdown, you could make another cart for it with some larger off road wheels from harbor freight to move it around if you needed too. what kind of truck are you putting it in?

I use basically the same setup out of my ranger, except I don't use rails, and my wench is electric, bolted to a chain strung from the front bed hook rings. I've been using just a plain flat sheet of 3/4" plywood with two small hook arms that sit down between the tailgate and the bed when I launch, but I'm about to either buy or make one of these.......

I have a 92 silverado 4x4. Funny you said that about the tires, I plan on building a beach cart with those. I don't know we'll see, thanks.
