    1978 Kawasaki 440 Jet Ski

    Hi Guys,

I am interested in buying the above mentioned ski.

Apparently the engine runs, although i haven't seen it running and it doesn't look like it does run.

According to the seller it needs a steering cable then it will be fine.
Apparently it was bought from a friend a couple of years ago and was never actually used.
So, it would seem that it would need a bit of work done.

I took a couple of pictures of it while i was checking it out.
But, i see i cannot post pictures yet.

I am in South Africa in Port Elizabeth.
It was advertised for 4000 ZAR = 541.455 USD

    HIN: KAW 223030478

    Is it worth it?

That is a high price for a ski needing a bunch of work, but the real question is how hard is it to find a jet ski in South Africa? If they are rare then it might not be a bad deal.

    Hey Racer

I think the guy is taking a chance, i'd never pay 4000 bucks for that, I'd offer him 500 and work your way up, I am on the look out for a new steering cable now, will see if they can make one up for me will let you know.
My ski looked very similar but had to replace the carb kit, it took a lot of tlc and it isn't even finished yet.
Just remeber, that she will be a labour of love, but will provide the fun afterwards from the videos I've seen.

It looks like its missing the flame arrester, also check the foot well pads condition and the engine hood seal. chances are you are going to have to replace the engine hood seal, carb kit, flame arrestor, and get a nice hydro turf mat, you may even need to redo the fuel lines if they are not in good nick, all of which will cost you about 2000 bucks including shipping.
So tell the guy its better he gets something than it rot away further and no one takes it and gets it running.

Let me know what the old pirate says

    i offered him R1500.
he said if i give him R2500 the ski is mine.

i noticed the flame arrestor is missing.
all the pads & hood seal would need replacing.
