I had it media blasted, unfortunately they used sand!
We've thrown nearly a gallon of gelcoat at it to fix it & I need to order one more quart to finish the top.
Tom is doing a great job!

BEAUTIFUL!! Such a nice restorationOriginally posted by Firebird A/C&HeatingOMG.....Rules for 550 vintage ski class...550 ski riders do not conform to any kind of rules. That is why you are riding a 550 ski in the first place. Rules suck....

Re: A rare find
I found another one at the World Finals in Lake Havasu. It belonged to Eric Burton (most of you know Eric) and prior to that Cliff Jones (Jetco).
This is #501 and as far as we know maybe the last one made. It the only 500 series we know of.
It's a V-hull also & was "disguised & converted" to a 440 with a Stage 4 motor and pump while Cliff owned it. Apparently Cliff got great amusement letting some of the Pro's back in the day riding it and getting thrown off the twitchy V-Hull. I understand he may have pic's of Jeff Jacob's and others getting "high-sided" off it as they weren't aware it was a '73 V-Hull.

Re: A rare find
These skis don't seem to have edges. How do they handle on hard pack? Do they hook up in powder? If my girl gets water in her face, will it mess up her makeup? Do they carve on ice? Can I still wear my heels, regardless of chop?I'm only here to make you mad
I'll tell your girl you said "hi".

I just picked up a rare blue 1974 last week. All original.
But I really think I'll redo the gelcoat & graphics back to original.
It's got some cracks and chips in the hull. Some of the gelcoat has crazed.
The tank is stained & split so I'll buy a new one from Ty once I start on it.
One project at a time though.
