          My $.02

make sure that the carbs are synchronized (use a drill bit sitting in the body underneath the slides, and adjust the cables till they are matched)
          then synchronize the air screws

this is all assuming that the carbs are clean...

for the record, I've never seen a stock polaris rev very well from idle (i.e. throttle response)

and it should start cold without any throttle input...

Re: G-Crew Sled- Heads. A thread for snowmobiles. Riding, maintenence, etc

it could be on the bottom of the carb- though i doubt it...
if you don't see one- check the slide's to make sure they're in sync-

I second the "airbox mouse house check"

also- put it up on a stand and get that track spinning- give it a few good pulls to make sure that she runs good everywhere else...

And Race30 is correct, make sure they are synchronized after they are cleaned.

I am thinking its needle and seat time.

I'm not so sure its needle and seat time- if they were junk- wouldn't the carbs be allowing too much fuel in and spilling gas out the overflow?

simply putting your fingers in the carbs and actuating the throttle will tell you if the slides are even in the same neighborhood- using drill bits will get you a more accurate visual on the sync...

I wouldn't say that i know a lot about carbs, I've just owned lots of "almost good running stuff"
I'd be happy to check it out...where is he?

no- they're not collectable, but they last forever-
I rode one last year up to the top of mt. Major in Alton- First snow of the year!

                              those things are sweet.

They're worth 800-1000 no matter the condition...
