    Rv antifreeze VS Automotive antifreeze

Just a quick question about winterizing my 96 HX. What isthe prefered fluid to use for winterizing pwc's? I live in upstate ny and curious if RV antifreeze was ever used in pwc's. I know that the stuff used in RV's is for potable water systems but it sems to me that it would be a little friendlier to the enviroment. Any thoughts?

The operators manual actually calls for ethylene glycol with corrosion inhibitors but I never saw a need for that. I'm in Ohio and all I ever use is pure pink RV antifreeze with no problems even with the occasional below zero days.

Thanks, this what I was looking for. I didn't want to drop any more toxic antifreze in my yard or where ever I winterize...

pink is all you need , the green { car stuff} can get into the gaskets and make them soft and oily , besides killing marine life . if your in a salt area use some saltAway before putting the ski away for winter .

how can that be if the shop manual calls for it (not the normal car stuff, but with inhibitors for aluminum engines)?

only if it has the anti freeze added to it, so you have to check the label. I've had the normal blue stuff freeze.

If you're leaving it set for years, you might want to use the more expensive antifreeze with corrosion inhibitors but most people only store for several months so I wouldn't think you need 'em for that amount of time.

I use pink stuff rated for -50 C ($3 per gallon) up here in Canada and store it outside where it routinely goes -25C without any issues.
