im trying to get my gear together to setup a course, all i seem to be able to find is 8" (waterski slalom course buoys)inflatables, seems like they'd be way too small to see in the chop from the skis
i wanna say the ones we used at mission beach were 18"

Re: Racing Practice Buoys!?!
Polyform buoys are not cheap but they last forever and can take the abuse of skis hitting them. Available at West Marine. The ones they throw down at Mission are 15"

One hard pass on those guys and you'll be riding a course of floating plastic. For local practice the best ones are still the 9" waterski buoys. They are fairly inexpensive and MUCH more durable than a beach ball. Pair them with some cord that sinks (some nylon cords float and floating cords will get sucked up) and some bricks or old dumbbells for anchors and you'll have a set that will last.
Overton's had ski slalom buoys for cheap, like around $7 each but the website isn't working. I got them a very long time ago, like 10+ years, and they're still good. I don't know why their site isn't working for me. I think these are the same ones and they're only about $8 per buoy. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...426c053443cd90
Just get some 1/4in rope from the hardware store (cheap) and find some weights. I used semi truck lug nuts but I'm sure you can find something else too.
