    how to repair gelcoat

    Hello everyone,

Does anyone know how to repair the white gelcoat on the Honda? The color white that they sell is too white and does not match from those cheap patch kits they sell.Who has gotten thier gelcoat repaired to perfect condition ? Any body shops here in the tri-state area ? (NY,NJ,Conn). Thanks.

Here is the deal ,the gelcoat may look too white, however gelcoat is porus it soaks up colarants and impurities in the water which discolor it,your best bet is to use the patch kit and give it a cpl of months use to blend in,or you can try tinting or dirtying up the gelcoat to make it match.Minicraft of Flordia and Spectrum Custom color both have gelcoat tint kits you can buy to correct slight mismatches in colors, good luck because a tiny amount of tint goes a long way especially on white gelcoat.
