What intake grate is best for my 650sx???

I have a stock grate on my 650 now and when i get in any sort of chop i cant keep the thing in the water...so im thinking a top loader but when im in the glassy water i dont want to lose my top speed with that big scoop on there.

Do the top loaders rob that much top end speed? What do you think will be the best intake grate for me?

And also if there is anything else that is a good upgrade but not to expensive for ski let me know...this thing is completely stock except bars and UMI throttle.

Go with a deep scoop. It's not a top loader.You can pick up a ride plate for cheap as well. And put an aftermarket stainless steel impeller on. There are alot of other upgrades but you should start with these.

I have a 650 just like you and i broke my stock intake grate, im running it without one now. I think for the price im just going to buy the grate that looks like the stock just metal.

Random but, does anyone have troubles doing subs on their 650?

I'm actually running a RD aquavein. Works really great!! could not imagine riding without a good grate. The front is bouncing a lot less at high speed and it's easier to jump.
I never had problem doing subs with a 650sx. One word : Practice

Whats the difference between the Big Scoop and a top loader? And how do they affect ride and pop?

RCJS tri scoop rocks on the X2 sure it would on the sx too.

A deep scoop is more of an angled big hole. Like the name it scoops the water up into the pump. A top loader does the same thing but they say you loose a little top end. Top loader is for really for really choppy water and waves,

Does this help with jumping at all because it gets more water in the jet longer.... giving you more pop?

We need need an intake grate for the incoming 650x project. Gonna confirm that after we finish installing the new suspension and tires from 4Wheelonline onto the truck and clear the garage. Will check that link later.
