    Propane powered ski ?

Does anybody know if a Propane powered ski has ever been built ? Or modified to run on propane ?

Propane runs much cleaner than gasoline and the engine would last much longer.

The refueling would be a little more tricky though.

You riding a jetski or driving a forklift?
It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I am not a big man.

      Re: Propane powered ski ?

Actually I was driving a fork lift earlier today when I thought about whether or not anybody has ever tried it.

I did the same thing a year or so ago when asked if Harley Davidson had ever made a jetski.
I came across these pictures of a guy that took a Yamaha vx hull and popped a 1200 V twin mounted sideways in the frame with above water exhaust . With custom made water cooled heads on it. I didn't think I'd ever see that one coming. But somebody tried it.

Thats my idea of how it would work....

But I'm not totally against the idea either

Actually if you put side burners on your ski you could grill a burger while riding .

Just make a really strong hook for that spatula...

Precisely! Propane burns at lower BTU's than gasoline, or even diesel for that matter. Its also much more costly than gas when expressed in MPG's. Plus with gas, the manufacturer has the luxury of designing the gas tank to fit the ski as opposed to propane the ski must be designed to fit around the cylinder. The only reason its popular with forklifts is because they are mainly run indoors where low emissions are paramount and also because the tanks are carried on the outside of the lift reducing the possibility of an leak related explosion

Propane powered ski ? If anyone has done it i'm sure they said it was a waste of time and a waste of money. no engine small enough to fit in a ski will be powerful enough to move effectively.
