I used Dap contact cement. You can get the mat with 3M adhesive on the back, but it wont hold up as well on the rails. I have used it in the past on the mats and it holds up pretty well in most cases.

Re: Seadoo HX turfing project- including the rails

Almost finished! Well, the turf is finished, but I still have to get the rest of the decals off and polish up the whole ski. I also have two bad spots in the gelcoat that need repaired.

I tried a few days ago to coat my rear bumpers with Plasti Dip. It just didnt bond with the plastic (urethane?) rear bumpers though. So I peeled it all off and sprayed it with spray on bedliner. It seems to bond pretty well and is still flexible. So goodbye purple!! Instead of riveting the bumpers back on, I am filling the holes with a hard silicone and will run screws into it. This way they will be easily removable.

how did that b-stock turf look when you got it? i was a lil hesitant on buying the b-stock turf because the woman at hydro-turf told me that it had slight discolorations and some had small holes. so needless to say i went for the a-stock.

It had a few tiny voids on about a 6x6" spot in the middle of the piece. I was able to do my whole ski and didnt use the bad part- even thought this part was totally useable.

the DAP adhesives work very very well on turf. they sell it on hydroturf.com or you can get it at any home depot or lowes. its usually in the paint departments with the caulks and other adhesives

Re: Seadoo HX turfing project- including the rails

I finally got it finished and took it to the lake. I forgot how hard these things were to get onto. I never thought it would be less stable than my Blaster. I can just jump on the back of the Blaster and climb up to the seat- I cant even make it to the seating position on the HX before it turns over. I can side board it pretty easily, but my wife cant. So it looks like I will be selling it now to buy something more stable for her.

I ordered registration numbers for hers and mine- she picked an Oreos font and I went with an old computer font. I think it was about $18 per ski.

And here is a before and after:

I didnt think it could possibly be harder to board than my Blaster- my wife can sit on it without the engine running easily.
