GP1300R Catalytic Converter Problems

2005 1300r with exhaust overheat warning and no power. 82 hours on clock. Removed exhaust to find the CAT Converter in 2 pieces (the frame and the honetcomb part). Cat was blocking the exhaust and the temp sensor is bent in half.

Ordered OEM D-plate, fitted D-plate and a 1K resistor. Took the ski for a run today and the power is well down and it will not rev past 6000rpm. Compression is good on all 3 cylinders. Exhaut tone does not sound right.

Starts first time every time. Will rev to max out of the water on the trailer.

Anyone any ideas

Couple of questions
1. Is 1K resistor correct
2. Could some of the broken cat be causing a blockage in the waterbox.

There could be a piece of that cat stuck down in your stinger or waterbox causing a blockage.
Are the power valves cycling when you turn the ski off ? (or was the 05 the first year without those, can't remember now)

Yes it is 2005 1300r PV.

Anyone have pics of a good cat to see how much of it is missing

I removed the water lock and plastic water tank, all pipes etc back as far as the exhaust outlet. Found nothing, and there are no loose pieces rattling around in there. Any one got any other ideas as to what might be wrong. Thing i might check

Try a set of new plugs first.

Ok So I have a 2003 GP1300R with 97 hours as well and well I took it to the shop cause I got the overheating warning and a Check engine light on the screen. I also had a question for the screen as well. So lets start with first issue.

I have go through the forum and have been seening that it is just cheaper to replace the Cat with the Cat Con/D plate and a new sensor. My question is how hard is this to do for yourself. I just ordered the parts for about a 115 bucks with shipping.

Next question is: For the Screen it is crap it looks like crap and it is hard to see does anyone know what I can do to fix it or should I just invest in a replacement and is a replacement available?

HAHA thanks that is what I thought but will it have any issues and how hard is it to get off? I still like looking at how fast I am going haha so I wanna make sure that is not going to stop.

Ok awesome. now back to my orginal post any Ideas on that one as well? I mean I did work on 55 million dollar airplanes but we all know how different that is from a car or boat. I know I can turn a wrench. Think I will have issues?
