So update on start/stop buttons. Any Kawasaki button will and can fix/replace a broken jetmate one. We bought an old used start stop assembly off a sit down kawi off eBay, tore it apart, and basically just had to re-bend the bracket inside the joystick to fit a new button underneath our broken stop. The wire colors don't even have to match. It's literally just a button that makes a connection to tell the thing to stop. The entire project took 30 minutes. If you have a broken start or stop go nuts. You can't screw it up.

    Re: JETMATE owners thread ...

I'm finally able to get my jetmate project started (wound up picking two of them up almost two years ago) and have a couple of questions. I'm going to have most if not all the work done at a shop.

More than likely I'm going to need the engine rebuilt. Should I just stick with the stock 650, have it rebuilt into a 750, or spring for a groupk "sleeper" kit?

Is there an easy way to visually tell the difference between a 650 and an upgraded engine?

Are there any shops you would recommend in the Phoenix/Lake Havasu/Parker area for doing this type of work?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If going with a shop to do the work, you are kind of stuck with a 650. Unless the shop is experienced with doing fairly involved custom projects.

You basically pushing a brick through water with a Jetmate, getting more performance out of them is a practice in diminishing returns.

If you want to keep things at least looking stock and using a shop, GroupK kit would be a good way to go if they are ok with you providing your own parts.

If money is no object and you want a monster Jetmate, look at some of the other projects on the forum to get an idea. People have some really amazing set-ups, but have basically re-built an entirely new ski that just happens to include a Jetmate in the process.

simply look for and buy a "doner ski" like a 750ss they can ve found cheap and with good engines in them ,, if you are not confident to do the work yourself have a shop swap out the engine and electronics into the jetmate .. the 5 blade props in some of the heavier 750 sit down skis can also be made to fit a 650 jetmate pump ..
