    Primer Kit ZXI 1100 Installation

Ok, YES I know there are A LOT of threads regarding this, but I want to make sure that it is done RIGHT. I have seen so many different directions people have gone. Ok, on installing primer kit, remove choke butterflies (3), and remove complete choke assy. Here is where I need help, remove the plastic piece? This is the plastic piece on the sides of the carbs? Like that the choke rod actually goes through and rides on the carbs? Then after removing those, you press in the brass fittings, do you put fittings on both sides of ALL three carbs, one side of all three, one side of just one? Also if you only put the fittings in one side, do you have to plug the other side where the choke shaft used to be? One more thing, the existing places where the oil lines used to run from the pump into the carbs, do those fittings need plugged as well? Thanks in advance for the help

I pretty much know the start to finish instructions from piecing them together from about 20+ threads and 4+ people....what a joke

Yes, you need a nipple-type fitting on one side of all three carbs. You then need to plug the other side where the choke shaft used to be. The existing places where the oil lines used to run from the pump into the carbs do need to be capped. Auto parts stores sell small rubber caps that resemble a condom ( an 1/8" condom...) for sealing the old oil lines after switching to a premix setup.

The above I guess is the traditional way most people do it. But, I wanted to keep my chokes, so I just drilled a 5/16 in hole in the rim of the carbs and inserted my brass fitting. that way, i still have a choke and my stock air cover.

    Just an alternative option.

That is a good looking set up.

Have any of you guys noticed an increase in gas fumes or gas smell in the hull after you put the primer kit in and the ski sits for awhile?

Seems like mine had more of a gas smell, but I am not for sure.
