Watercraft accident near Blythe injures three

A Moreno Valley man was arrested Friday after an alcohol-related watercraft accident Friday on the Colorado River that left three people injured, sheriff's officials said Saturday.

Michael Lane, 64, was arrested after he was driving under the influence, collided with a Sea-doo that contained two teenage males, one teenage female, said Riverside County Sheriff's Investigator Jerry Franchville.

Deputies from the Colorado River Station in Blythe are investigating the accident, sheriff's Sgt. Kent Krisell said in a statement.

The accident was reported at 2:03 p.m. Friday near Mayflower Park at Sixth Avenue and Colorado River Road. Three unidentified juveniles were hospitalized with injuries, sheriff's officials said.

Two of the three patients were critically injured, and all three were transported by rescue helicopters, said CalFire-Riverside County spokeswoman Massiel De Guevara.
