    You have got to be kidding!!! That area is to be DRY!!! Fluids of any type in that area can cause stator issues/failure.
    If you are finding oil puddling inside chances are you have a partial blown crank seal. Hence the need to PULL THE MOTOR!

    As I mentioned I DO NOT recommend oil in there. Instead I have suggested ways to be sure it stays dry.

    In addition I must add that many electrical devices run in oil filled environments. So it is not as extreme an idea as you might think.

    You are correct that having oil in there would MASK an issue with the crank seals which is not a good thing.

    I have used a shot glass of oil in the past and have had no problems, and the bendix has never stuck
