2000 Bombardier GTX...Is this a good DEAL!!!!!

I'm about to buy a 2000 Bombardier GTX Millenium Edition three seater w/ 125 hours on it for 3500$. It comes with a single ziemen trailer, two life vests and tow ropes.... I need your imput on this deal... Is it worth it??? Is this an overall good ski to have/buy?

My fam had this ski for about 4 yrs and sold it in 06 for 4000. It was a good ski and the only problem I ever had with it was the voltage regulater. Here in Michigan I would say that it is a little to much but the 951 is a good engine if you maintain it. For a 3 seater two stroke it was a solid ski. It had no problems pulling us when skiing or wakeboarding. If it is in good condition and runs good I would say that this is a decent price. Just my input though.

If its in good condition and it runs good I would say that you prolly have a decent buy. Does every thing seem to be in good shape? Pump? Hull? Carbs might need to be rebuilt if it hasnt been done.

The ski looks to be in very good condition. Only small scratches on the hull no cracks or impact spots. impeller looks fine The engin and compartment has no salt water erosion, seems emaculate. The guy says that the compression is perfect. I not to shure that I believe him, the ski has 125 hours on it. Im going to ride it tomarrow, what signs should I look for?

Check the sticky for what to look for on a used ski.
If you have very little knowledge on skis. And especially a seadoo gtx with a 951 engine. Buyer Beware!
You need to do compression test with a test drive if possible.
Do a search on this engine and you will come up with a lot of info.
The 2 biggest killers of the 951 engine. In my opinion is.
Moisture inside of engine from lack of fogging after each use.
And water getting into engine when ski has been overturned.
And was not turned back over the correct way.
I purchsed 2 of these back in 2006. One already had a blown engine. I replaced with SBT. The end of July 06 the other engine grenaded. from what we could see. Reason was rod bearing failure PTO side. From what I believe was a moisture problem. It had 128 hrs on it at the time. Before it let loose it became louder and louder. I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm going on and on. But this ski ran good for 20 hrs/ It did however make more noise than the rebuilt SBT engine.
The moral of the story is. The ski your looking at may run great for a period of time. You have no idea though. If if was fogged often. Ski's sit more than they are run. The moisture build up underneath the seat is SIGNIFIGANT.

I have had my 2 GTX's (yr 2000) for 2 ys. Bought at $6K for the pair.
I like the hull and power. So far I've had minor issues since I've had them but I fog after each ride. Check compression and check for signs of corrosion. If in good condition $3K seems reasonable.

I would look at the 01 and higher the 951 with an O-ring on the exhaust seal

I own this boat since new in January, 2001. The battery position is terrible and the Reverse gate latch fell off without explanation.
Other than this, I love the boat.

If the condition is good, I think the price is fair. Have it checked by a mechanic before you agree to buy.
