The used ski market - what's your take?

I am looking to sell a Tandem Sport this spring and it looks like the market is just not there. Seems to me the sales should be hot on used ski's and by browsing here and on ebay it seems nobody wants to buy. Looks like the market is there on the later model ski's but not the older ones.

Is that your take on the market? Is it too early or will next week or the week after be better?

Just wondering what thoughts were out there. Looks dead to me....

the hotter temp gets, the better sales are. (more and higher)

which we have a little economy issues right now, but with income tax and the economy checks coming in, it will pickup at end of May.

I agree, it is seasonal, the water is still too cold in many places. Also gas prices will be hurting sales of all skis, new and old alike.

On the gas note, a lot of people that would be boat purchasers may look towards PWCs as a less expensive means of getting on the water...

i think old sitdown waverunners are becoming more and more extinct. Now old standup jetskis on the other hand, well they are on the rise.

Hate to be the one to point out the obvious, but the economy in general is pretty much f@cked... good luck with the sale.

Re: The used ski market - what's your take?

Motorsports in general is suffering due to gas prices. It cost me $120 to fuel my 2 skis (Ultra150, XLT). Not to mention the $60 I spent for a gallon of 2-smoke oil for each of the skis. That means, it's costing me over $200 just to take my family out for a few hours of riding. Or 1hr each at WOT. That's $100/hr. My budget is not THAT resiliant.

Results will vvary depending on tongue weight... thats what will give you the most trouble. Motorcycles are very light and thus very sensitive to excess tongue weight or the trailer having inadequate tongue weight.

Can be done... but you'll need the trailer equipped with brakes.
The electric brake system setup will be "fun"... *I* would link it to the rear brake.

A 550 cc motorcycle can pull a 200 lb trailer.... or can have a light sidecar and do passably on the freeway. Power of the motorcycle vs weight of the combo is what determines accelleration.
