    Building a 800 HX

I just finished my second 800 HX build, the first one was done with a bracket that mounted the 800 motor on the stock 720 mounts. About the only real drawback with the bracket is the bracket gets in the way of mounting the exhaust pipe so you either have to use the coffman exhaust or the neptune pipe (both are not made anymore).

This time I opted to glass in the front mount & use mounting plates for the rear (Thanx to Waxhead & HydroX),the mounting plates bolt to the stock 720 mounting point.

The first set of pics show the stock 720 motor mounts...

These pics show what needed to be cut out for the 800 to fit in properly, the left side was cut for pipe clearance & the right side was cut for easier access to the starter incase it needed to be changed.

The 3rd pic is a cut that needed to be made for the pipe to clear...

Here is some pics of the rear brackets that allow 800 motor mounts to be bolted to the 720 mount pads so no glass work needed to be done...

This is after the glass work has been done, for the front motor mount I cut a section out of a 2x4 that sits in the V of the hull with a aluminum plate screwed to the 2x4 piece & glassed in place & tapped to accept the bolts for the motor mount...

This is the part I like, getting everything bolted to the motor....

    RFI 800 cases,ported clys,Buckshot head with 200lb compression head,FPP spec 2 pipe,46 Novis on Big Red Racing intake manifold,MSD enhancer,MSD water injection,etc,etc.

I moved the starter solenoid, coil & water inj module in a grey elec box on the right side of the hull to keep everything clean & water tight.

    Re: Building a 800 HX

This is my first time doing fiberglass work & I learned a lot about working with it,I used a epoxy based resin over a polyester resin & also used a slow hardner to give me more time to work with it. Next time I will use a fast hardner & will paint the reglassed part with some grey paint when I pull the motor back out.

I just wanted to get it running so I can get all the bugs worked out before I start making it pretty.

If anybody would like to have one built I can do it for like $600 including the rear motor mount brackets,I have access to a couple 800 motors complete with electrics to make this swap.

My shop is in Ft Pierce Fla approx 2 hours south of Daytona Beach.

I have a extra hull at the shop that I am gonna do in a month or so & I will post pics of it as well.
