Jet ski in salt water for 5 days??????

Ill be taking my ski to Destin for 5 days. I know about flushing it when u take it out of the water, but is it ok to leave it in the water for 5 days before flushing it out? It will actually be beached in the evening, but the back half of it will be in the water. Is there anything I can do to help protect it before I go? Other than put some good wax on it.

If you leave it in saltwater for 5 days.....you will regret it.

you could try to get some salt-away or NutraSalt, in the motor at the end of each day. You could rig up a jug of a the Salt-away and fresh water to the flush and run the motor to suck some in. Can you block up the back of the ski to keep it out of the water?? I would still stake it at night need to watch the change in tides.

After about 3 days a scum line will start to appear. Then after 4-5 days barnacles will start to appear. Trust me it's a pain in the a$$ having to get that crap off.

Is there anyway when you beach it to drag it all the way out of the water and far enough up the beach so that high tide won't get to it?

I wouldn't worry too much about corrosion as long as you are using it everyday.

I agree. You might not notice anything right away, but it will definitely take its toll on the life of your ski.

And then next year when you have to replace the impeller housing be prepared to pay even more because all the bolts & hardware are corroaded in place.

Oh & steering & reverse cables.

Its going to be in a canal that has both docks and a beaching area. It seemed like last year there were some skis that they turned around and beached them back end first and leaving the front in the water. Not sure if that does any good or not. I will be close to a condo (within say 50-60 ft) with a water supply. Not sure I would flush it with the back end higher than the front if it was beached back end first.

I went to Destin last year, and just pulled it every night. Figured it was not worth the issues in the long run. But that was me, and my opinion.

just get it up on the beach so you can start the motor and blow all the water out..it will be fine..mist down the motor w/ som wd at night
