    Antifreeze for winter

Do you guys just put regular 50/50 antifreeze in your ski during the winter or do you use the pink RV stuff?

When I lived in the Frigid, I used Straight Pink RV Stuff, because it is not harmful/toxic to the marine life. The Automotive version is.

Now when I put this stuff in through the flush port on the back of the ski do I have it running as I pour the antifreeze in until it comes out or do I have the motor off and just pour it in until it comes out the back? Does it matter?

    Re: Antifreeze for winter

follow the instructions, its in the book
i use the pink stuff straight, its non toxic and good to -30 or -50. DO NOT use automotive antifreeze (ethylene glycol, the green stuff) for automotive is TOXIC to animals and not good for the environment. Use the pink RV type (propylene glycol) straight. It will mix with the water thats inside the water box and dilute anyway. Its like $4 bucks for a gallon.
you need a funnel and tube connected to the flush port. stand on a ladder and pour the antifreeze into the tube. have another person start the motor and keep pouring till you see pink come out of the exhaust and/or pisser. you're done. anyway, shouldnt you be de-winterizing it now anyway? trust me there will be many winterization posts in september/october for you to read up on this

Well the dealer ran it on the flush hose so it got water in the exhaust system. Tomarrow we are supposed to have a day in the 40s, lows in the 20s, so I want it protected.

I use 50/50 Prestone for the anti corrosion abilities....

Not worried about the critters, we have too many stray animals around here anyway! LOL

I always flush really good before putting into a lake.
