Sea Doo HX Magnum Pump queston

Have a HX with Factory Pipe, FLame arrestores, Stock (rejetted) carbs. Wanting to try a 12 Vein Skat Pump (140mm). What would be a good pitch impeller to start with?

Hi Charles did you milled the head for more compresion? also are you using the stock nozzle or aftermarket I have a 16/21 and a 14/23 you can try so you dont have to buy one until you get the right pitch

I was just wondering how to align a 96 HX MOTOR? I'm stumped.

you need an aligment tool from your sea-doo dealer otherwise you'll be burning rubber coupler every 5 minutes of use in 96's or newer

Hey Charles: Remember 720's with factory pipe do not like to run at 6800-6900 rpms the back piston seize very fast at that rpm range 7250 7300 and up will compensate for the drag on left turn

My HX turns 7150 usually. I have had my eyes open for a mag pump for it, no luck.

Re: Sea Doo HX Magnum Pump queston

Thanx for the reply HXLOCO, we used the tool to align the engine. Bolted the alignment plate on the back, slid the shaft in, set the alignment washer so the shaft slid into the engine. No shims needed, we could've put shims under the engine and set the alignment washer to match. The question is does the engine actually need shims if you're setting the center alignment washer? And if the alignment is that critical (we took out .016" shims) how can you guarantee that when you pull the engine out again to get the front drive shaft in that you aren't out by that .016"? Is the alignment tool mainly to get the alignment washer in line?

Re: Sea Doo HX Magnum Pump queston

Once you get the engine aligned you dont move it any more, bolt and torque it, now the trick part is to put the mid shaft back you need to remove the shock out of hull there are two long screws at the base of the shock 10mm nuts both ends, is a pain but once you get those out the shock can come up with the seat and you can put the mid shaft in place, is more work but you will assure the engine will be in the right place. there may be another way but that's the way I know and no more burn couplers, check the couplers after the first ride if it looks ok your fine they go out very fast when the engine is not centered and if you run it long enough you will have to buy new pto and mid shaft. I hope that helps

we had the shock out (it was necessary to get the mid shaft out in the first place), we also removed the alignment washer but the hole behind it was too small diameter to get the mid shaft through. also if you remove that washer (and the bracket it sits in) how would you realign it after the mid shaft is installed? Our machine is a 96, are other years a slightly different setup?
