Re: Need help tuning my 550 carb

Yea that is a good starting point for tuning. You really do need to pull your flywheel off and have the timing advanced. It makes a huge difference in performance and easier starting.

Re: Need help tuning my 550 carb

dont mess with the idle, just the low and the high speed ones. I also was wondering if your timing is advanced? if not, it should be advanced all the way. Which ends up being 32 degrees.

    Re: Js550 stop switch

You can set up the motor with no idle, then you wont need a switch. 2 strokes are better off with no idle because it forces the rider to blip the motor creating better lubrication for the motor.

    Re: 440js question!!

My guess is a stator, but i would check the other options first, just to make sure you dont by a stator for no reason because they are not cheap. Your symptoms do sound like a stator going bad.

Re: 550 tuning help needed badly

Try a 2.0 needle and seats, with the pop off pressure set at around 8 pounds, air fuel mixture screws can be set around 1 to 1 1/4 turns out would be a good place to start.

    Re: trued and welded crank?

It keeps the front of the crank from spreading apart at the pin. I personaly am not a fan of welding that pin, only because you are putting alot of heat on those near by needle bearings.

    Re: 550 Doesn't like water

Might be a stator, under a load (in the water) they just dont provide enough spark to burn all the fuel. On the stand (not under a load) they sometimes can run okay.
