    My understanding of the issue is that bad diodes in the rectifier allow AC voltage to bleed into the system, since the ignition system is DC this kills some of the voltage causing a misfire.

    Most all of the reputable paint places have an electric eye device, it scans the paint and tries to match it to the closest thing in it's database, the results are pretty much dead on the money.

    I was about to say check the reeds I have seen many sets of Yamaha reeds that were bad and had no visible damage, they too wouldn't rev in the water, mostly on 1100 and 1200 NPV engines though

    yes that is pretty much normal at idle speed, the pump doesn't do much at that speed because Yamaha uses check valve in the oil lines, once enough pressure is built up it can go through the check...

    Yes that is your issue , all of the needle sizes are the same the 1.2, 1.5, 2.0, 2.3, 2.5 designation marked on the bottom of the needle seat refers to the size of the hole in the seat, it is stamped...
