  1. '98 GTX Limited shooting water out of engine

My father's 1998 GTX limited seems to be shooting water out of the lower part of the engine. It comes out slowly, such that the water leaves the hull faster than it goes in. However, it is coming out...

Re: '89 650SX Wont Start When Hot

I'm with mcurcio. If you carbs are running rich on the high circuit you are flooding the engine and fouling the plugs when running it. So it's not that the ski is hot, it's that you've been running...

Re: 750 SXI bogs above ~1500 RPM

FIXED. It was the pop-off pressure. I'm not sure what the actual PSI was because I don't have a meter. I ordered stock springs, ended up cutting off two coils off each, and the ski runs perfectly.

No one knows of a shop around Philly that could help me tune these carbs? I'm going crazy over here.

Re: Know a shop to tune a carb around Philly?

I already spent $200 on the rebuild kits last week and rebuilt both carbs. It didn't help. The $210 was to have the shop go over anything else that might be the issue. They said they checked...

Re: Know a shop to tune a carb around Philly?

the ski idles fine. If I try to go above 1/4 throttle, the thing bogs. If I turn the choke for a second, turn the choke back off, and give it gas, it will go to 3/4 throttle. The problem doesn't seem...

Know a shop to tune a carb around Philly?

I have a '95 750 sxi that has serious carb issues, probably having something to do with pop off pressure. I've tried fixing the situation myself, but I can't do it, and I'm hoping to get the ski...
  8. Re: Anyone know a good shop to tune a 750sxi carb?

Thanks, Watson. I'm really hoping to get this thing running by Thursday. I'm considering bringing it to a shop in Jeresy, but I'd much prefer to have it fixed by someone local.

    Thanks again.
  9. Anyone know a good shop to tune a 750sxi carb?

I have a '95 750 sxi that is giving me hell with carb troubles. It runs great on the trailer. I need a shop that will be able to diagnose the problem on the water. Anyone know a shop somewhere in SE...

Re: 750 SXI bogs above ~1500 RPM

I made big progress today. I took the needle, seat, arm, and spring out of the carb of my '92 SX and put it in on of the carbs in the ski that was bogging. It now runs almost perfectly on the...

Re: 750 SXI bogs above ~1500 RPM

The reeds seem to be OK. I did the paper-over-the-intake-manifold trick, and there is only sucking going on.

The shop didn't check pop off pressure. I'm almost sure that's the issue. I'm going to...

Re: 750 SXI bogs above ~1500 RPM

Nope. $210 at the shop where they cleaned the carbs, adjusted the air screws, checked for compression and exhaust leaks, and we've found nothing. I've swapped the fuel pump, fuel pickup and fuel...

Re: 750 SXI bogs above ~1500 RPM

No fuel filter. Goes right from the carb to the tank. I pulled the pickups and they were clean.

It's at the shop right now. We'll see what they find.

Re: 750 SXI bogs above ~1500 RPM

Didn't work. The carb base gaskets were kind of tattered, but replacing them didn't help. In fact, I think it may have made the problem worse. It really just feels like it's not getting fuel at...

Re: 650sx runs good then dies

I had a similar problem on a '91 650sx. I replaced the stator with a used stator and had the same problem. It turned out the stator I put in had the same problem!

Re: 750 SXI bogs above ~1500 RPM

Thanks. I'll give that a shot. Rebuilding the carb didn't help, and there doesn't seem to be anything stuck in the fuel pickups. Your suggestion seems like it might work.

750 SXI bogs above ~1500 RPM

My 1995 750 SXI idles great. Sometimes I'm able to get it up to WOT without issues. Usually it bogs like its starved for fuel above 1/4 throttle. I recently rebuilt the carbs. It only does this in...

Re: Just a little Jet Ski Physics Question....

In your car analogy, the road should be fixed (like the air in the jetski example) with the wind blowing against it. The tires of the car push on the road. The jet engine pushes on the air. The water...

Re: Just a little Jet Ski Physics Question....

The point here is that the jet engine doesn't know anything about the water. It is pushing against the air. The better question would be "If a jet-powered jetski is in an endless pool IN A WIND...

  25. Re: 650 won't turn over - not the starter. Help?

  26. Re: 650 won't turn over - not the starter. Help?

Not a bad starter. I pulled two different working starts from 750s and put them in the 650 to no avail. I've read that the pump can be messed up? Could that be it? But I can still turn the crank with...
  27. Re: 650 won't turn over - not the starter. Help?

I can turn the engine easily with the plugs out. I have a 750sx sitting around. Maybe that starter will fit?
  28. Re: 650 won't turn over - not the starter. Help?

I tried two different starters. Same thing. I attached the battery charger / starter directly to the starter motor (to minimize wiring in between) and I get the same thing. Could I really have two...
  29. Re: 650 won't turn over - not the starter. Help?

Full-charged good battery. Even with a battery charger / starter attached. It will turn over if the plugs are out, but not if they're in. What gives?
  30. 650 won't turn over - not the starter. Help?

The starter motor turns correctly when it is out of the engine. When it is in the engine, it might turn over once, but sounds like there just isn't enough torque to turn the motor over. I tried a...
  31. Re: Need help with a 650sx in the Philly area $$$

This might sound silly, but what is the coil? My understanding of the 650's electrical system is that there is a CDI box, a voltage regulator, the stator, and the starter relay. Where is the coil?
  32. Need help with a 650sx in the Philly area $$$

I've seen guys on dirt bikes do a 360, kinda corked out. Has anyone tried this on a ski? Technically, it should be easier, as you don't have to fight the momentum of the wheels turning. I can't wait...

    Standups in California

I am looking into moving to San Diego. I heard there are some wacky laws in CA about 2 strokes. Is this true? Will I be able to bring my standup and ride in the surf?
