Re: How to test 787 crankshaft seals ?

They are a moving part. All moving parts wear. they rub the cover ever so slightly at times and the gap widens. a new blade, new cover and proper valve timing MIGHT help your issue. It is worth a...

Re: How to test 787 crankshaft seals ?

Did you ever check your rotary valve clearance? It causes similar issues on that engine.
  4. Re: 97 Seadoo GTI: Starts/Idles Great, Does Not Accelerate

Even if you get it to start, it will never run better than crap. Save yourself the headache and order a SBT replacement. It will save you time and effort over trying to reinstall and then breaking it...
  5. Re: 97 Seadoo GTI: Starts/Idles Great, Does Not Accelerate

He means the depth of the rotary valve cover. The rotary valve cover wears over time. You have to measure the squish between the rotary valve and cover with either the feeler gauge of solder method....
  6. Re: 97 Seadoo GTI: Starts/Idles Great, Does Not Accelerate

OK, this is going to sound a little crazy but look at my recent thread about a similar problem with a 96 GTX. It should be within 10 posts of this. Look/listen to the video. Does this sound/act like...

Re: 96 GTX--1st problem post in a LONG time

That's what I was going to tell him when I logged back in. I used an aftermarket one that I got locally named Premier Gear knowing that I have an OEM one in storage where I keep the boats if this one...

Re: 96 GTX--1st problem post in a LONG time

BTW--this the first rectifier I have had to replace on any of my 3 GTXs.Done a bunch of ATVs but not on any of my Seadoos. Guess I'm pretty lucky but also guess I'll keep a spare onhand.

OK Grumpy--You win the prize! Got home today and cleaned all of the terminals inside the rear E-box just to make sure no issue there--No change. Used inline spark checker and the spark was smooth for...

Re: 96 GTX--1st problem post in a LONG time

Hey Grump, good to hear from you! I would think that could be a possibility but to be that it would have to be a bad regulator in both of the front boxes I tried on it. It does the exact same thing...

Re: 96 GTX--1st problem post in a LONG time

Used an inline tester, looks like Mag cylinder not firing well. Pulled off Mag wire and made no difference how it ran. Replaced and pulled PTO wire, no run at all. New coil ordered. Will post when....

One other thing, the infocenter went out sometime in the last month or two. I don’t see where this could be causing this exact problem but could it?

96 GTX--1st problem post in a LONG time

This video is of one of my GTXs. It is a 1996. It had been running perfect until the last 6 weeks. It is the original engine. It has Bill O'Neal's upgrade kit with Prok intakes, larger needle/seats...

  19. Re: Water Regulator Valve Siphons after shutdown (1996 Challenger, 787 x 1)

It SHOULD NOT be removable. That is a comon issue with the 767 water regs. You can either glue the piece back in or replace. I've had several fail in this way and they work fine oncwe the problem is...

Re: 97 GTX electrical post question

As for the grounding posts, ALWAYS ground an open plug wire there. There is a risk of fuel ignition if any fumes present and you cause a spark. Believe it-it has happened to one of my sons!
  21. Re: 97 GTX, 787, Will not run, starts sometimes, out of ideas?

Pay extra attention to the Mag carb with the fuel pump, one way valve and the impulse line off of the engine. You would get no fuel flow if one or more of these are not working properly.
  22. Re: 97 GTX, 787, Will not run, starts sometimes, out of ideas?

Rebuild the carbs using ONLY Mikuni kits. The springs you need are NOT included in the kit. Pay special attention to the pump/valve portions of the carbs. the manuals are at the top of this forum.

Re: anyone with a 97 gtx?

There is a lower plate with 2 air hoses attached to allow the engine to breathe and vent. I don't have a photo. Go to the parts microfiche and it will show you all of the parts.
  25. Re: 1995 Sea-Doo GTX takes on water and cavivates badly

Check your carbon seal and washers on drain plugs. Anything done that could have affected your engine alignment?
  26. Re: Time for new 787 engines... how long to install?

Swapping is easy; 2 hours tops if the PTO doesn't give you too much problem. Use a LARGE lever with a pipe attached to loosen. Timing the rotary valve isn't too bad IF you get the indicator wheel. ...
  27. Re: Part number 275500270--what to use instead

  28. Re: Part number 275500270--what to use instead

Thanks to both of you. Grumpy--Cheap hose kinks. Got some GOOD fuel injector hose and it fits well. Will remember the modulator hose!
  29. Part number 275500270--what to use instead

Per the title, this is the impulse tube between the case and the fuel pump. It has a sharp 90 degree bend in it on a 767 engine. They are no longer available. I have tried fuel hose but it tends...

Maybe it got cut? Maybe it broke. I doesn't matter unless you are using a vented battery.
  31. Re: 97 Slotted RAVE valve in place of 96 not slotted valve?

Re: 1996 Seadoo GTX 787 electrical issue

    Bad stator = no run
    Bad pick-up = no run
    Bad MPEM = no run

Does it run with the red wire unplugged from the rectifier? If so, replace it.

Re: 2017 Sea Doo GTX Gauge

The gauge is either the water or the air temp. Did you notice which one it said? Did the gauge quit working entirely or just the temp? If the gauge kept working it probably was just the sensor.

Re: 96 xp not getting max rpm or speed

Only thing wrong besides sitting for a year. To many to count things that can cause a 787 to run poorly. I would suspect you have trashed the fuel system. Start there with the lines and carbs.
