  1. Re: 1996 Kawasaki 900 ZXI key switch replacement/alternative

I've tried to steer clear of actually recommending one because I don't know the size panel hole.
The $18 toggle would fit in a .5" hole. The $50 rocker needs a .8" hole.
    Probably either could be...
  2. Re: 1996 Kawasaki 900 ZXI key switch replacement/alternative

    (on) means a momentary position.

For example the Trim rocker would be (On) - Off - (On)

Digikey shows only one in-stock waterproof rocker that mounts in a round hole--but it's a big hole.

  3. Re: 1996 Kawasaki 900 ZXI key switch replacement/alternative

    You might like Digikey better.

  4. Re: 1996 Kawasaki 900 ZXI key and switch alternative

    Correct--2 circuits, 2 positions.

The question I'd like someone to answer is:
How much must be disassembled to remove that switch?
I know the upper pod is removable but I've never done it. It...
  5. Re: 1996 Kawasaki 900 ZXI key switch replacement/alternative

A DPDT switch means "double pole, double throw". Typically there would be 2 sets of 3 terminals on such a switch, each side isolated from the other, each having contacts that are closed in one...
  6. Re: 1996 Kawasaki 900 ZXI key and switch alternative

See my wiring reply in your other post.
If you're not concerned with the security of a key then any waterproof DPDT toggle switch that fits the hole would work.
  7. Re: 1996 Kawasaki 900 ZXI key switch replacement/alternative

The key switch wiring is basic. There's just one pair of power wires for 'On' and one pair that grounds the ignitor when 'Off'.

    Intermittent instruments

Sometimes when I switch on the key I do NOT get the lamp check of the oil & overtemp lights, and the tach doesn't work... Fuel gauge reads weird or not at all... Yet it always runs just fine.

    Tank full probe

    Nutty question:
Is there a hand-held probe you can insert into the fill tube when gassing up?

Ok I thought you were saying all 3 Pistons should reach TDC simultaneously.

The (relative) headspace measurement is an indirect measurement of crank timing.
