    I run a HX box with no loss of power. Did you mount your upside down to keep the proper flow direction? If you look at the HX diagram the flow is back wark if you install them with the top side up.

    If your talking about a R&D timing advance plate or similar, then yes you can. Just make sure you don't run lean on your carb settings.

    If it has all new wsm coils on the stator I would bet he put the exciter coil on upside down and your timing is way off. They will bolt on both ways but only one way is correct.

    I would be concerned with a possible lean seizure problem. That is a classic symptom, it's like someone shut off the fuel, then it won't start until you let it sit and cool down

    It was a PJS. I have run PJS on my other skis without issue, just not this particular plate. I now run Jet Dynamics concave with no issues.

    You should turn your intake vents backwards. Just swap them from side to side so that the intake is in the rear. Less water intake. That's what I did on my stock hood
