Re: 96 Xp dies and wont restart

Sounds like a gas issue to me although that usually doesn't happen all of the sudden. I would check by doing a fuel system pressure test. This is done by removing your feed and return lines from...

    Re: 93 xp mepm

A 717 MPEM would functionally work but would have DESS after 1995 and you may have to make some minor wiring changes. 657X will not work.

Unless you use 657X stator assembly.

Try Westside powersports - Nick or Jesse. 99SPXX or something like that on here is one of the brothers.

It takes up driveline slack and gets rid of the rattle. Not a bad idea since it can help with movement around the sealing area, etc.

Re: Xp limited. No oil in pump.

You can also check this by doing a pressure test after assembly. If you have a pop off tester that can be adapted to fit the threads on the cone oil fill set screw. Pump it up to 5 psi or so and...

  9. Re: 95 SPX wont run under load after carb rebuild

You checked carb pop off and verified that you have fuel flow through both carbs (return orifice in carbs is clear). Sounds like a fuel issue.

I'm going to sound like a broken record but when you...
  10. Re: PTOs on a 1999 787 RFI GSX and a 1997 787 GSX

Heat on the PTO is pretty much required to remove most PTOs. Best method is to remove the seal and heat the back side of the PTO. You will need a significant vise for this.

Re: 2001 GTX DI water leak

#1 unknown reason for water in the hull is the exhaust water port bung plugs. They corrode through at the edges of the weld and leak.

Re: Plugs and piston tops black

Piston wash looks good. (Carbon) black buildup on pistons and plugs looks too rich on oil. Are you running premix (what oil and ratio)? If not how is your oil pump setting?

Re: 787 RFI PTO Removal question

The grooves on the rotary valve and cover are fine as long as they are not too deep. Large grooves port to port on the block side will cause hard starting, runability issues and maybe backfiring.
