  1. Re: ‘89 650sx - oil droplets and spraying fuel out exhaust - check my diagnosis?

A little piece of trash can hold the needle open.
  2. Re: 1989 seadoo 587 full build!! Pipe, Cylinders, prop, etc..

Actually, that purple 717 pipe would probably make more power than that Decker.
Several years back I threw a '97 GTs together with a bunch of spare parts....including a ported 587 with single 40i...

I would ride it first and see how you like it.
  4. Re: HX800 project pulled out of extended storage

The stock HX throttle cable works just fine.
Yes, the power and handling of a 787 HX truly is amazing.
Guessing value would be in the $2500 range.
  5. Re: Adding fuel to oil tank to inject extra fuel to carbs?

You need to rebuild the carbs. The 701 powered Waveventure and XL700 are underpowered machines. BUT they get the job done. What I've learned is that the carbs must be in great shape for them to run...
  6. Re: ‘89 650sx - oil droplets and spraying fuel out exhaust - check my diagnosis?

Was thinking there was an atmospheric vent. Forgot they didn't start doing that until '94 or so.
  7. Re: ‘89 650sx - oil droplets and spraying fuel out exhaust - check my diagnosis?

The gas tank has a check valve, but it's also supposed to vent at something like 3psi. The needle and seat shuld hold WAY more than that. Popoff test the n&s. Should pop at a certain pressure with no...

    Re: 951 Leak Test

On a 951, the counterbalance cavity should be sealed off from the rest of the crankcase.
  10. Re: Yamaha wave venture dies uppon giving it gas

I wouldn't believe anything I was told until I see oversize pistons with my own eyes. Should have had a full fuel system rehab and crank seals at that time but it obviously did not. I find many blown...

Re: Jet ski turns over wont start

Listen to Bill and follow his instructions. You need all the water out of the engine ASAP!
  12. Re: Yamaha wave venture dies uppon giving it gas

I see this all the time at my shop. Older skis always have MULTIPLE problems. If it was running fine then nobody would have sold it. My advice would be take care of a full maintenance rehab right...

Re: Rxdi wont start after fuel pump change.

The di machines are really tough to troubleshoot without proper equipment. Many dealers won't even work on them. If the fuel pump works in one, it should work in the other. If it doesn't then there...
  14. Re: Yamaha wave venture dies uppon giving it gas

Well.....it's not popped out BUT, I see little chunks of rubber missing and oily residue all around the rear of that engine. It's obviously leaking back there. It's time to pull it, dismantle,...

Re: 98 SPX Dead, no power please help !!

You do have the small ground wire also on battery negative?
Verified main power fuse in rear ebox is good?
  16. Re: help me identify a part I found loose in the hull. (sea doo rxdi)

Theres only 2 of those on the 951. One directly in front of the engine, very easy to see. The other is right down under the right side center of the head. Right under all the fuel and air injector...
  17. Re: help me identify a part I found loose in the hull. (sea doo rxdi)

And you better fix it. When the bushings go bad everything starts to vibrate until it starts breaking off exhaust bolts.

That looks like a newer "Wave Boat" but the original from years ago was the "Shuttlecraft".
  19. Re: Yamaha wave venture dies uppon giving it gas

When you open the throttle it sounds like it's going so lean that it just dies out. The seals are easy to check. Unbolt that big circle of plastic in the midwall. Then you just reach in and remove...
  20. Re: What is the loop on the trailer wench strap for?

Also please look up Wench, and Winch........there is a BIG difference!
  21. Re: Yamaha wave venture dies uppon giving it gas

The fuel pump pulse line gets signal from the rear cylinder. When the seals get old they harden and shrink a bit. They came with zero sealant from the factory. Any sort of burble or backfire can pop...

Re: Rebuild air compressor - sea doo rxdi

Yes, it's a rising rate dual sided regulator. The more air pressure rises, the tighter the spring pressure to raise the fuel pressure.
  23. Re: I can’t figure out what this hose goes to.

    Correct, nothing hooks to it.
  24. Re: 1998 and 1999 GSX both have to pull choke to get up and go

Having to pop the choke to gain rpm from low speed is a low speed fuel delivery issue. Jetting, screw adjustment, plugged passages, inop accel pump, etc. OR....an air leak causing the correct settings...
  25. Re: Yamaha wave venture dies uppon giving it gas

On an older 1100.....pull the pto cover and inspect the rear crank seals. They have a habit of spitting them out. Then open and inspect the fuel pump.

    Re: What ratio to premix?

Your over thinking this. Buy the cheap stuff, mix it 40:1, take it easy for 30 minutes, let it cool down completely. Repeat a couple times, no full throttle first tank of fuel. Continue at 40:1 with...

Re: Ran ski with no oil for half hour +

Take a punch to the pump body and dimple a few places around the hole. That will tighten it up. Clean both with carb cleaner and a qtip. Apply red loctite, and tap it back in.

Re: 01 Ultra 150 lots of oil out exhaust

Most common problem on the cv carbs is blocked passages to the vacuum diaphragm. If it doesn't slide open there is no main jet fuel.
