Man great thread. Keithfa I never saw those numbers. Pretty dang impressive.
I have a fire lit under me to rebuild my stock hull xir this winter. My riding buddies have a buoy course set up...

After much searching, here's the Aug 1994 PWI review of Kanamori's R&D xir! Article comes courtesy of Vasilis of jetskiworld.gr.

John is right, but they also push the nose down, which is one more piece in the porpoising puzzle. I would try them with and without and see what you think.
I found on my ski the right set up was...

Good times. JustStandups if this ever hits the water let us know what it's like.
Jason, Z and Bruce, count me in on that road trip!
-
What ever happened to this ski Bruce? Kurt i know you didn't buy it else i would have heard about it. Bump for a cool old funny thread.
-
There is some really good info here! Thanks for posting!
-
Well guys it looks like we're gonna try and get IPD Graphics to start working on a xir decal set. We need to work out some details still but it looks like if they can get 6 kits pre sold, they will...

Looking good. That hose routing looks ace.

Thanks for the heads up. Actually I had a race spec Riva 650 cylinder a while ago which I was going to use. Sold it at some point. I think I'm going to have Newmiller port the cyl I have. Its a 00 00...

Thanks guys. Once we get beyond this covid craziness we need to get back to our cross state gatherings.
Ok so now for some comparisons. The jammer and my stock with plate/ intake 09 SJ are about...

-
Ok a few updates. Family responsibilities / longer hours at work / covid craziness has prevented me from putting on my next mod.. a Coffmans sizzler pipe set up from fox river pwc. Thank you again...
-
I have a ported 830cc superstock engine with the best wet pipe made in my xir, and I have thought about putting a mod 1100 in that ski. I can't talk about the ss because I'm not sure on the exact...
-
I had the original non lip versions on my first gen 550/800 hull and loved them. I have a set waiting to go on the second hull. I'm interested to hear feedback on the lip as well. I'm guessing it...
-
Regarding those gaps with the ride plate, just fill them with silicone after you've test ridden a few times and like the ski. With all the work I was doing, I was pulling parts off left and right for...
-
Wow, not bad. With some sprucing up, new decals and turf that would look really good. Places make exact repro decals for that year. And shoot that's a highly desirable trailer too. A bit beefier than...

Bumping this up for some guys from FB to find and reference easier.
@jetbum, I'm in process. Covid quarantining has killed my momentum because the skis aren't with me where I live at the city. I...
-
I ran a 10/16 Impros Hooker and 80mm nozzle with my 750 dual carb. With the ported 800 I was at a 11/17 hooker and 76mm nozzle and still under pitched. And that's where I stopped because the hull had...
-
Mod 701 pipe, yes. But the tank might need a little melting. 701 limited I don't think so with the stock tank. I saw a picture of one and the ski was not running an aftermarket smaller one.
-
Bumping this up. I have been somewhat spurred on by the Facebook Jammer group guys. There's a whole bunch of swaps going on there. A whole range of aftermarket pipes, and even a few pump swaps. It...
-
Man that sounds like a great time.
First, was the engine rebuilt prior to putting it in the ski? New engine gaskets, crank seals, carb gaskets? If so, great. I would still bring extras just in...
-
Without a doubt. Our friend's detuned 440 mod with charging ignition was around 42 I believe. Faster than his limited 550. Fast little skis for their displacement!
-
Nice. Let us know how it does.
-
Nice, that 440 is in excellent shape after all those years. Details on the set up?
A friend of ours in our riding group used to race in the 80s. He rebuilt his 440 superstock detuned to quite an...
-
Interesting. That nozzle and pump is cool. I'm not sure how the triple pipes came together but that is interesting. Mtrhead might know.
-
Keeping that pole pad is definitely cool. Looks like the square is not so square, it has a mohawk!
Keep up the good work. Interested to see if you've got handling mods coming.
-
Any updates or additional pics with the engine or skis?
-
Thanks Chris, I look forward to watching it. I remember hearing about Larry working on a film, glad it finally got produced!
-
Saw your other thread with the reply from Mtrhead. If your goal is to get closer to the 08+ SJ hull mods / handling, the rear of the ski was also narrowed. I believe this makes the ski roll easier.

Pretty cool stuff. This is the closest I have seen to a functional 1100PV parts wise. There was a bunch of 1100pv castings which sold a number of years ago, and I personally saw some of these and a...
-
Interesting. Where was it located in the ski?
-
-
Wow very interesting, what an amazing barn find like you said! These hulls are works of art, I have seen similar ones up close before. The carbon work by KHI or whoever did it for them is amazing.

Lol probably right Bruce.

Hey what's up Jason!
Without a doubt. Actually we set up a buoy course regularly now at our lake. The course has tight turns with maybe 100-150 yard straights. With my bone stock 09 SJ I can keep...
-
I was just talking to a friend yesterday about how I would like to do a 1100 sx swap in the future. I think for the money you could set the ski up well as a real fast buoy chaser. And it would be...
-
-
Yes they do. One comment though. They come with stainless countersunk self tapping screws, which mainly is done if your ski is already built up and if you want to install them quick. We found a...
-
Yes absolutely. I swear by the Prowatercraft tubbies and will not build another 550 without them. Basically they give you extra support up front when you turn. So you can turn more aggressively...
-
The small pin cylinder sleeves require a bit of material removal to work with the big pin crank, if I recall correctly. Usually this is done when the cylinder is ported. IE there wasn't any...
-
No problem, post up how the 78 / 50 / 132 combo performs. It's almost bulletproof if you engine bottom end is air tight. The bigger pilot and mid jets are what adjust the carbs for aftermarket flame...
-
Welcome back to the jet ski world. And what a fine return! That xir looks to be in pretty good shape. Most desirable aspect for these is a clean hull with the decals all intact. Yours looks really...
-
That 300sx pole actually doesn't look too bad on there. Used it because you had it sitting around or some other reason?
I don't like my square, but it makes me appreciate pretty much every ski I...
-
Got it, will be interesting to see how it goes. BTW not many people actually have issues with getting water and or moisture in the Kawasaki ebox cases. If they did it's user error or they get too...
