    SXI's came with dual Keihin carbs, 1998 and newer Sxi-Pro and SXR's have dual Mikuni BN40-38 I-body carbs. You cannot compare the two carburetors as far as tuning specifications.

    Use OEM Kawi studs or Yami bolts.

    This is correct in that a "D" casting head (27.8cc domes) on a #20 casting cylinder will provide some room for tuning error with fresh 91 octane gas.

    Not much can be done with an OE 1992 SX head...

    Blending .75gl 110 + 4.25gl 91 = 93.85 octane.

    Increased compression = Increased low rpm and midrange torque. You will see a small increase in upper rpm performance and max rpm, but not much.

    As already mentioned... Head has been milled and re-chambered. It is also pretty common on 550's to deck the cylinder to reduce squish clearance.

    WC heads are designed to seal the combustion chamber with O-rings against the cylinder deck, the WC head gasket is intended to seal the water jacket only. Hissing and sputtering from the pisser...
