Re: Help me rebuild my 1990 550sx

After 6 glorious years riding this ski the 25 year old crank said "No More". New motor + other parts should be here next week.

    WTB: 550 Motor

I'll take a PP or reed. Mine just threw a rod, and cracked the crank case+fly wheel cover.

First ride out of the season, major bummer.
  4. Re: Click, Click The starter does'nt even move

You can pull the starters apart easily. When mine did this two of the brushes had broken off on the inside.
  5. Re: Click, Click The starter does'nt even move

Can you turn the engine over by hand with the plugs out ?

I don't have a bolt in that hole, sorry forgot to mention that. This motor is stock except the exhaust, if yours is setup different you may have more problems skipping that bolt.

    Re: block bolt hole broke

I broke mine and filled in the area with jb weld. I have 50-75 hours on it like that with no problems. The spring is a heli coil so unless that is also broken like mine was you are probably fine.

    Re: SBN 44 Tuning help

I think turning the idle will just hide the problem, I have it idling at the same speed as it did with the BN44.

    I've done some more investigating

I replaced the black spring with the unknown...

  31. Re: 550PP Going down to one cylinder when falling

I don't think that's it, when I run it on the hose I don't have any leaks.

Just checked the spark on both plugs and it's very bright blue
  32. Re: 550PP Going down to one cylinder when falling

  37. Re: JS550, pjs (dual cooled) head, kerker pipe- NEED HELP

That's a lot of hoses going places, but it looks very similar to my setup. I split the input to my manifold because I had heard that the it more evenly cools the cylinders.
